J1, Egyptian Experience
About the home
J 1 is fully furnished ground floor apartment overlooks the largest (30m) of five pools and landscaped gardens on the award winning Egyptian Experience complex in Nabq, where the owners are nearly all British.
The apartment is fully equipped with washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, hob and all crockery, cutlery, pans and utensils.
The complex is 15 minutes from the airport and 800m from the beach. Transport is plentiful (two minibus taxi services are run from the complex) and a car is not necessary. Local buses go everywhere and for 12p will take you the 2kms to Nabq where there are good restaurants, shops, banks and a supermarket which will also deliver groceries to the apartment. Airport transfers can be booked through us, payable to admin office on arrival at the complex. Return transfers start from £25 for up to 2 people and this includes a free trip to the supermarket the day after arrival.
Sharm el Sheikh, dubbed "The City of Peace" is many places in one, offering huge choice for divers, nightclubbers, beach lovers, ancient antiquity buffs or just families looking for a great relaxing holiday in the sun.
The Egyptian Experience complex is situated close to the Sunrise Tirana Aquapark Hotel, one of the most popular family-oriented resorts in Sharm, which has a large waterpark and a beach front 800 metres walk from the complex.
The climate is hot but not humid, year round sunshine is guaranteed and rainfall is a rare event. Even in winter mean temperatures are above 20°C. On Christmas Day 2011, temperatures reached 25°C.
Sharm El Sheikh's many amenities and attractions include sulphur springs, casinos, discos and nightclubs including Pacha, a golf course, world-renowned diving and snorkelling spots, windsurfing, water-skiing and other water sports, horse and camel riding, go-karting, quad biking, desert safaris and Bedouin dinners.
Diving can be booked with on-site instructors and there is a very wide range of dive sites in the area off Sharm to suit all levels of experience and capability.
It is also a great base for trips to the Pyramids and Cairo, Luxor, Mt Sinai, Jerusalem and Petra. These can be booked through the administration office at the complex or via local agencies and are run by tour operators which collect and drop off at the complex.
Inside the apartment is a comprehensive folder of information containing the accumulated knowledge we have built up over many visits, including details of a drinks delivery service (excellent Egyptian Sakara beer is 90p per 500ml bottle, Heineken is not much more expensive) restaurants (including takeways which deliver), excursion operators and other leisure attractions such as water parks and nightclubs. We also provide a detailed email to all guests to help them get the most out of their holiday.
We bought the apartment after enjoying several fantastic holidays in Sharm and spend about three months of the year there. Our 7-year-old daughter absolutely loves it and has become a great swimmer and snorkler thanks to the pool and nearby beaches. The apartment is ideal for families with children ,couples and people with limited mobility/wheelchair users as it is ground floor.
I have always found it perfectly safe to holiday with our daughter when my husband can't join us. I feel at ease using the local transport - buses and taxis, eating at restaurants, strolling in Naama Bay without a care and making the most of the warm nights. During the recent political upheaval, Sharm has remained perfectly safe and calm.
On my last visit to Sharm this year, February 2013, it was perfect bikini weather with temperatures at 28c and cool Arabian nights. The sea was warm and it was a perfect break for us to get some respite from the cold British winter. Perfect!!!!

The Red Sea Riviera/Sinai region
Sinai is the barren, mountainous desert where Moses received the Ten Commandments on the way to the Promised Land.
Now its natural attractions and tourist developments have made it a destination rather than a place to pass through. The Red Sea's stunningly beautiful coral reefs and abundant marine life made it a magnet for divers and its beaches attract sun and fun-seekers from all over the world.
Sharm also benefits from Egypt's low costs and high standards of service, together with a famously friendly welcome from its ever cheerful people.
The Sharm El Sheikh / Nabq Bay area
Nabq is the less crowded area of Sharm el Sheikh, consisting mainly of hotels and beaches where you can swim surrounded by fish or dive off the coral reef.
A five minute bus ride from the complex takes you to a local shopping mall with a Metro supermarket as well as bars, off licences, restaurants and independent stores.
Nabq has high quality restaurants including Onions, On-Fish, Peking House, as well as McDonalds, Starbucks, TGI Fridays and many more fast food places which also deliver.
Soho Square is five minutes in the opposite direction near the Savoy Hotel, offering international restaurants night clubs, an English pub, designer shops, ice skating, and bowling alley.
The night-life hub of Naama Bay is 20 minutes and 30p away by local bus. It has a bewildering choice of restaurants, bars, casinos, clubs and shops.
A short ride further is Old Sharm, known as the Old Market, which has superb fish restaurants such as Fares and is a good place for skilled hagglers to pick up bargains.
