The Isle of Wight region

The Isle of Wight and Shanklin in particular is among the top seaside resorts for sunshine hours in the UK. The island is renowned for it's natural beauty and quieter pace of life and has many attractions and events to suit all ages. Visit Queen Victoria's country home Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle, Brading Roman Villa, picturesque Shanklin Old Village and Godshill, Ventnor Botanical Garden not forgetting Alum Bay famous for the coloured sands and chair lift. For families there is Blackgang Chine, Robin Hill, Amazon World, Owl and Monkey Haven, Sandown Zoo and Dinosaur Island, Donkey Sanctuary and many more, .

Events through the year include The County Show, Cowes Week, Garlic Festival, Old Gaffers, Isle of Wight Steam Show, Round the Island Yacht Race, Town Carnivals and Regattas.

Shanklin has one of the best sandy beaches on the island. Enjoy a drink, meal or snack at one of the many cafes, bars or restaurants along the Esplanade. There is a new crazy golf, two themed golf areas and childrens play area on the seafront plus the amusement arcade. Walk along the revetment or cliff path to Sandown or in the other direction to Shanklin Chine, and steps leading up to Rylstone Gardens passing The Fisherman's Cottage pub on the beach. The town has shops, cafes, pubs and many restaurants including traditional, Italian, Indian and Chinese. The older part of the town - Shanklin Old Village with it's thatched roof cottages has pubs, shops, restaurants and bars. Enjoy a cream tea in one of the Lovely Tea rooms here. In the summer there are band concerts in the grounds of Rylstone Gardens and a Tea Garden which has it's own crazy golf and beautiful gardens. Shanklin Theatre has various shows through out the year and most are sell outs.
