The Isle of Wight region
The Isle of Wight, with its beaches, unspoiled scenery, rich heritage and over 500 miles of award-winning public footpaths is a walker’s paradise, or if sailing is your thing, the renowned annual Cowes Week is not to be missed.
Shanklin is a popular town on the Isle of Wight, with shops, pubs, eateries, a pier and a fairground. The town is home to Shanklin Chine, an attractive gorge with waterfall cutting through it, and lovely for a cool shady walk on a warm summers afternoon. Shanklin village, the older part of Shanklin, has shops and tea-rooms set under traditional thatched roofs. The sandy beach at Shanklin is terrific for family fun. Other attractions on the island include the village of Godshill, The Needles and Alum Bay, Osborne House and Robin Hill Country Park.
