The Isle of Wight region
The Isle of Wight is the UK's most popular holiday island and has one of the mildest climates in the country along with being one of the sunniest places in the UK.
The Isle of Wight is very small being diamond shaped and measuring just 16 miles by 23 miles. This adds to being a great holiday destination as everywhere is within easy travelling distance. The isle of Wight became a fashionable place to holiday in the Victorian era after Queen Victoria opened a summer home at Osborne House in East Cowes. The towns of Shanklin, Sandown and Ryde are the most popular tourism resorts on the island with the West Wight being more rural.
Over half of the Isle of Wight is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty with 60 miles of beaches including heritage coastline. For those who like walking and cycling you'll never be bored as the island boasts over 500 miles of well maintained clearly signposted routes and pathways. The Isle of Wight is home to the biggest annual walking festivals which occur in May and September each year.
For families the Isle of Wight is absolutely packed full of things to do and attractions to visit. The Needles is probably the most famous of all island destinations and here you can enjoy a chairlift ride that takes you from the clifftop down to the beach giving you a birds eye view of the stunning coloured sands that this area of Alum Bay is famous for as well as the 3 rocky stacks and lighthouse that you can get closer to on a short boat trip.
Blackgang Chine offers many surprises and goes down in history as being the first theme park in the world to open! It is also well known for it's Disappearing Village attraction.
Cowes in the North of the island is world renown for it's yachting and sailing events throughout the year.
There are many places of historical interest open to visitors including Queen Victoria's Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle, Appuldurcombe House and many more.
Shanklin nestles in the South East of the Isle of Wight and has a wonderful mild climate with above average days of sunshine. Shanklin Villa is located just a few minutes walk away from Shanklin Beach and Esplanade. Along the Esplanade you can hire deckchairs, play crazy golf/putting let children work off energy with the indoor play areas and get some light refreshments from cafes and bars. There is a stunning Cliff Walk 2 minutes from your apartments that takes you to Sandown and offers some stunning views of the sea. For an easier walk you can go along the sandy beach or Esplanade.
A few minutes walk from the apartments takes you in to Shanklin Old Village with its traditional thatched cottages. Here you'll also find Shanklin Chine with it's deep gorge and waterfalls. Shanklin Town Centre is close by with it's high street shops and supermarkets.
Along the seafront you can access a variety of watersports

"Generally 1st Rate, except ....."
Wonderful situation, with easy access to both Shanklin village and the Sea Front Promenade. Generally well appointed with well laid out lounge having a beautiful sea view and a large double bed room with an extremely comfortable king sized bed. Shower is very easy to use. Only "slight" quibble is that salt and pepper were not provided, which is unusual in this type of accommodation, and the toaster was very, very slow

"Contemporary and comfortable"
A modern, spotless apartment on ground floor, close to the town and the beach. A huge, comfortable bed and small, but well equipped, kitchen. Would definitely stay here again.

"perfect accomodation for a relaxing week"
Our appartment at Shanklin Villas had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay on the isle of Wight. The appartment isr furnished to a high standard and and there was milk in the fridge and tea and coffee bags ready for us when we arrived.Tea towels,J-cloths,dish washer tabs and tabs for the washing maschine were all supplied.Just one of those little things that made it easy to settle in. The Shanklin Villas are in a perfect location.5 minutes down to the beach and 5 minutes into town and the shops. The Shanklin Chine, just around the corner, is worth a visit and the Shanklin Theatre has a good programme for the summer. We saw "Best of the West End" and really enjoyed it.

"Fantastic first family holiday"
We were a day late starting our holiday due to minor illness- Carol from Shanklin Villa kindly changed our ferry and arranged for the lovely Mary to meet us at the apartment shortly after our ferry arrived to show us around. We were taking our first holiday with our 8 month old and the requested highchair and cot were already in the apartment when we arrived. We stayed in the Cadogan apartment which has beautiful sea views from the lounge window. The apartment is well equipped with everything you need for a home away from home stay- fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to prepare and serve full meals. More importantly for me- there was also a hair dryer in the bedroom. The apartments are only a stones throw from the cliff top at Shanklin which is then a short trip downhill to the beach. We also used the indoor swimming pool at Luccombe hall hotel one wet afternoon- this is a lovely included extra benefit. The only slight negative would be the sash windows- I can imagine that in the summer the apartments would get hot and not being able to open the windows very far would lead to stuffiness in the apartments. Though this wasn't a problem for us.

"Clean and comfortable apartment nicely located for the beach and town, as well as headland walks towards Ventnor."
Excellent accommodation and good value self-catering apartment. We enjoyed a one week stay, taking local walks. It was very nice to come back to a cosy well-appointed apartment each day.

"You Cant Fail to be Impressed"
We travel a great deal and stay in a range of good quality accomodation my day job is in property so we are used to assessing - I have to say the standard of accomodation at the Villa is very high. The propery is a renovated hotel - work having been done in the last 18 months - the common areas were immaculate / the flat spotless / furnishing of a high quality / the showeroom was very clean / 2 flat screen TV's well equiped kitchin completes the picture. The grounds were well maintained a hot tub was available. With a Sea view to boot one could not ask for more. Eating out - a short stroll to the Crab public house - decent food a nice envirnment. So all good - only two suggestions :- 1) the ground floor common areas should have hard flooring as opposed to carpeting - sooner or later they will get marked and that will be the start of standards dropping - do it now ! 2) Again in the common area a nod to the past with a picture of the old hotel would be nice. Only down side - don't mind paying in full at time of booking - but taking a £200 pound security deposit to cover damage 6 weeks before you arrive is not good - the deposit should be taken on arrival. Excellent break and have recommeded you to others already.
