Dolenjska is characterised by hills, scattered vineyards, numerous vineyard cottages and churches, the Krka River, the karst landscape along the Temenica River, rich archaeological sites, quality thermal spas and the European speciality wine Cvicek. Its capital city of Novo mesto bears the title of “Town of Situlae” and is the cultural, educational and economic centre of the region.

Posavje however lies along the lower part of the Sava River, on the border with Croatia and is a popular tourist destination due to its cultural, natural, and historical riches. Local culinary specialties, high-quality wines, and towns with rich heritage offer many opportunities for both fun and relaxation. There are many walking trails, riding trails, golf courses, and spas.
