The Andalucia region
With a great climate, sun, sea and beaches, bullfighting, sherry and flamenco Andalucia covers over 33,000 square miles and runs the length of mainland Spain's southern coast and is the second largest and most populous of the 17 autonomous regions of Spain. Andalucia is crossed by the Sierra Morena mountain range in the north and in the south by the snowcapped Sierra Nevada. The fertile basin of the Guadalquivir river lies between these mountain ranges. Huelva, Seville, Cadiz, Cordoba, Malaga, Jean, Granada and Almeria, all named after their principal cities, are the eight provinces that make up the region.
Seville certainly is one of the most beloved places by visitors to Spain. When you visit this city, you are in the very heart of Andalusian culture, the center of bullfighting and Flamenco music. Take yourself time and take life easy, as Andalusians use to do, and interrupt sightseeing from time to time to have a few "tapas", those typical "small spanish dishes", and a glass of Sherry wine in one of the probably thousands of bars in this city, and consider a few of the hints on the following pages to make your stay a memorable one.
