A small, cosy, family run, peaceful bed and breakfast situated in a conservation area on the edge of Underriver village in an area of outstanding natural beauty known as 'Samuel Palmer's Golden Valley'. Set within an acre of wooded garden including a stream, ideal for bird watching, the cottage is reminiscent of the Little House on the Prairie—but with all mod cons and only 30 minutes by train from London. Only one set of guests catered for at a time, so privacy is assured.

We have Kent Breakfast accreditation, which means breakfast includes at least 60% locally sourced products (there is an organic farm nearby), as well as home-made jams, and honey from our own hives. Most of our produce is also organic.

The South East England region

"The Garden of England is one of the greenest, most inspiring and most surprising parts of England. Just 25 miles from the hustle and bustle of London, the peace and green of this area seems a world away. Located in the South East it is often associated solely with the county of Kent, but in reality straddles the borders of the counties of west Kent, East Sussex and West Sussex.

Many areas of England including Yorkshire and others have tried to stake a claim to the title 'The Garden of England', but there can be no denying that the green, rolling landscape of this corner of the South East with its miles of woodlands, fields and farmland brimming with orchards and hop gardens, dotted with pretty villages is the true Garden of England. The area's reputation for a variety of wonderful traditional and formal gardens open to the public – more than any other part of England - only adds to its entitlement to the title 'The Garden of England'.

Come and discover its beauty."

"Sevenoaks is a bustling market town with a selection of individual shops, plenty of coffee shops, bars and restaurants, and one of England's largest stately homes just off the High Street. Before becoming the home of the Sackville family, Knole was an archbishop's, and later a king's, palace. Its seven coourtyards, 52 staircases and 365 rooms cover some four acres, and is surrounded by six acres of medieval deer park. Now under the management of the National Trust, Knole is open to the public, and boasts a new Visitor Centre in the Orangery.

Just outsde of Sevenoaks town centre is Riverhill Himalayan Gardens, where over 10 acres of gardens contain rare specimen trees, towering rhododendrons and azaleas, bluebell walks, carpets of primroses and magnificent views across the Weald of Kent. Restoration of the Rose Walk is now complete, and is very beautiful when the roses are in bloom. The Walled Garden restoration work was completed 2012. There are a number of areas and activities at Riverhill for children, such as the Himalayan Hedge Maze and the Yeti.

Sevenoaks has good rail links to London, and has historic connections with Jane Austen and Charles Dickens. There is a community theatre in the town centre which also boasts a cinema and a Tourist Information Centre within."
