Beautiful flat
£85 / night
£590 / weekAbout the home
A beautiful apartment, with a roof terrace, situated on the second and third floor of an old town house in the historic heart of Sete, one minute from the Place de la Mairie, the Gand Canal, the port, the fish market, and many many restaurants. Close to beaches also.
The apartment has been recently renovated in a fresh modern way. It is situated in the heart of the picturesque old town and, as it faces inwards into an enclosed area of old town homes, it is peaceful. The nearest beach is a 10 minute walk away (a couple of minutes' drive). A short drive away (or a 20 minute walk) is a beach that stretches for 10 miles. There are regular buses from and to these beaches from near the flat.
The apartment is lovely and cool as it is breezy. It has a large, nearly 50 square metre, sitting room upstairs, and two bedrooms - one with a double bed and one with a single that pulls out to a double - and a bathroom (with a shower and washing machine) downstairs.
The sitting room is bright and airy with a bed sofa, velux windows on the roof, and a large sliding glass door leading to a small and private roof terrace with views over the rooftops to the port, the sea, and the etang (inland sea bay). The sitting room also includes a practical and well-stocked open plan kitchen in one corner.

Further details indoors:
The flat is quiet and has a spacious and airy feel. The two bedrooms are on the lower floor with a large open room upstairs, with a corner kitchen and a small roof terrace.
Further details outdoors:
The terrace is small and private and is a great place to eat and sunbathe, and to drink a nice glass or two of wine. While there is no parking on site (it's in the heart of the old town after all), it's very easy to drop off luggage etc and then park in a nearby street or in a multi-story car park a two minutes walk away (approx 40 Euros a week for the multi-story). The beautiful main canal is also very close by, plus a lovely shaded park, so there's no shortage of places to relax.

Enquire nowThe Languedoc-Roussillon / Herault region
Languedoc-Roussillon is a stunning area chock full of natural beauty and fascinating towns. It has a long and rich history, not least as a major centre for the cathars and the templars. It has beautiful beaches all along the coast, rolling hills and vineyards nearby inland, bordered by hills and something approaching mountains about thirty miles further back. There are endless things to do and see. The tourist office is a good place to start looking. Lots of great wine and food too.
The Sete area
Sete is wonderful, with beautiful old houses, hidden squares, high quality art galleries (and plenty of artists) and gorgeous canals. The Camargue, Montpellier, Arles, Beziers, Nimes, Carcassonne, Muscat vineyards, high hills and lakes are all within easy reach (even Spain is less than two hours away, with the Dali museum a major attraction). The area also boasts loads of culinary treats, including fabulous fresh fish, Italian food specialities (such as tielle - a squid and mussel pie), oyster cultivation in the etang, and a great many restaurants lining the canal and port....

Sete is easy to get to by air, rail and car. It's a great place for beaches and as a base to explore both the Languedoc region and the Carmargue. Easyjet flies from Gatwick to Montpellier (the nearest airport to Sete - about 20 minutes drive away). Beziers is not far away either; Ryanair goes there. Nimes is also fairly close. You can get the Eurostar to Sete too. It's also a lovely, if a little long (10 or so hours), drive through the heart of France, following the motorway due south from Paris. While it's always handy to have a car, you don't need to have one in Sete - buses and trains are regular and good, and almost all of the main things to see and do in the town are within very easy walking distance.
