Home description
Chalet Chamoissiere is a newly-built ground-floor apartment built in traditional materials, in a convenient location opposite the ski slopes. Ideal for a ski or snowboarding holiday, it is also a lovely summer location with rafting, kayaking and mountain biking all close by. On the outskirts of the small village of Monetier-les-Bains,part of the Serre Chevalier ski area. it is close to all the amenities but in a quiet location. An outdoor heated pool, along with sauna, hammam/steam room, and relaxation area are available free of charge. Changeover day is Sunday (Saturday possible in Summer) , but we will accept short stays of at least 3 nights outside of peak season (i.e. Christmas, New Year, February, July and August.). Please ask if you have any individual requirements, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Hautes-Alpes region
In the Haute-Alpes area, on the edge of Provence it is famous for it's association with Napoleon who marched through the area on his way to Paris after his escape from Elba. It is also noted for its sunny climate, boasting 300 days of sunshine a year. Ideal for walking and hiking in the Spring and early Summer. Kayaking and rafting is nearby on the Guisane, one of the most famous rivers in the Alps for enthusiasts.
Serre Chevalier / Monetier-les-Bains area
Serre Chevalier is one of the largest ski areas in France, with 250km of pistes to suit all levels of skier. Stretched along a high valley, from 1200m to 1500m abouve sea level, ths pistes are strung out along the length of the valley, with wide open and sunny bowls at the top, and skiing through the larch forest below. For the more adventurous, there is some great off-piste skiing and boarding, snowparks for the freestylers, and nursery slopes for the beginners. There is really something to suit all levels. For the non-skier, it is an ideal place to spend a holiday with your skiing family, as you can while away your time in the local thermal springs, the pool and sauna, or catch the ski bus down to the walled town of Briancon, a world heritage site, built by the architect Vauban in the 17th century. The village of Monetier-les-Bains has a traditional feel, with local food stores selling produce from the local stores.Restaurants range from creperies, pizzerias and alpine specialities, to more gourmet experiences of the Hotel Alliey, and Auberge de Choucas. Thermal waters run through gullies in the main street. On the edge of two national parks, Queyras and Ecrins, wildlife is abundant in summer, and alpine flowers cover the slopes. Cycle along the valley to the hamlets of Le Lauzet or Le Casset and sample local cheeses and ham, or visit the alpine Botanic gardens at the top of the Col du Lauteret, with sections devoted to all the major mountain ranges of the world, and a memorial to Scott of the Antarctic who trained for his famous trip to the Antarctic there.

Fly to Turin or Grenoble-1.5hrs transfer time. Lyon 2.5hrs, Geneva 3.5hrs. Easyjet from Luton, Ryanair from Stansted, Charter flights form regional airports (Sundays in Winter only). Train from Paris to Briancon (sleeper service). Taxi to Monetier 35 euros approx. Car Hire via www.travelsupermarket.com for good price comparisons. Self drive via Calais. Further details indoors: The front entrance lobby opens onto a small hallway, with coat hooks, and storage cupboard. A double bedroom,with TV, and a luxurious shower room which also houses the washing machine, are accessed off the hallway. The open-plan lounge area, with flat screen TV, DVD and ipod docking station opens onto the sunny terrace. The comfortable sofa beds sleep up to three people. There is a dining table with 4 chairs. We have a selection of DVDs, board games and paperbacks for those quiet nights in. The kitchenette is well-equipped with a dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, small oven, and 4-ring ceramic hob. It is ideal for families or couples, and will sleep 4 in comfort. A baby can be accommodated, please ask if you require any equipment. Towels, bathrobes and bed linen are included in the price, but please bring your own for the pool. The apartment has underfloor heating, using the water from the local thermal springs. The resort is committed to the use of greener energy, and uses a high percentage power from a renewable source. There is plenty of cupboard and drawer space, hairdryer and shaver socket in the bathroom. We have a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering, and it is a 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants. Further details outdoors: Swimming pool is open air, but is heated by the hot springs of the area. There is also a sauna and hammam (a Turkish style steam room) and relaxation area with loungers. The terrace and garden have beautiful views of the ski slopes. In Summer, the chairlifts open from the end of June to the end of August for access to the higher slopes for walking, cycling etc. The covered terrace has chairs for relaxing, and a table for alfresco dining. RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR USE OF THE SPA FACILITIES CAN BE FOUND IN THE INFORMATION FOLDER IN THE APARTMENT. A designated parking space is available for your use.

Swimming pool opening times may vary depending on the season, but should be posted on the notice board in the lobby. Closure for maintenance is outside of our control. Please bring your own towels for use in the spa area.

Normal changeover day is Sunday , but we are flexible outside of the February and August holidays, with a minimum stay of 3 nights. Long lets may be considered outside of the ski season. SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON THE PROPERTY

Thanks for having us.Great chalet in a great location close to the lifts in a beautiful real French village .Plenty of good skiing and boarding to be done-even had pow days.It doesn't get much better!
Just returned from a wonderful week skiing.The apartment is extremely well equipped and comfortable. It was toasty warm too, despite January temperatures in Serre Chevalier.Very convenient for the ski lifts, and the thermal baths. Strongly recommend the latter for a bit of apres-ski soothing and relaxation.
Please pass on our thanks to your key holder for her welcome and assistance, all the contact arrangements went very smoothly. Myself and my brother were very impressed with your apartment (especially the view through the patio doors ) I think you have made a very shrewd choice, and we will of course consider rebooking in the future.
