Home description

Located in the top of a mountain village, in highest mountains of Portugal mainland, inside the Natural Park of Serra da Estrela, Casas do Soito are two cosy, modern houses.

Both have kitchenette, sitting room and fireplace, air conditioned and an exterior area in the back, facing the valley with magnificent views. The swimming pool (to be shared by the two houses) will be ready on June.

The breakfast is provided as well as daily cleaning. Guests can have dinner at Casas da Lapa.

The village - Lapa dos Dinheiros - is a typical mountain village, ideal for trekking or just to relax. There is a fluvial beach in the village and a total of 8 fluvial beaches in the region.

The Natural Park of Serra da Estrela is one of the most important Portuguese natural parks and has many attractions.

The Northern Mountains region

In the heart of Portugal, Serra da Estrela is the most impressive mountain massif in the country. The central massif, with a hostile environment to the human activity, has a wild phisiognomy.

On the surrounding slopes, the shepherds and their cattle, the rye cultivation, the cattle breeding, the cheese making and the wool and stone labour, make the Serra da Estrela Natural Park a region which has been intensively lived by man, but preserved by Nature.

Snow in the winter, fluvial beaches in the summer, historical villages, magnificent mountains and valleys, good gastronomy and wines, plenty justify a visit to Serra da Estrela.

Serra da Estrela / Lapa dos Dinheiros area

Lapa dos Dinheiros is a small mountain village. You can either walk through the labyrinth of streets of the village or through the several pedestrian trails with different degrees of difficulty. The fluvial beach has high quality water coming from the top of the mountain. The waterfall of the village worths a visit.

In Seia, the nearest city, the Serra da Estrela Interpretation Centre is a must for everyone who wishes to discover the Natural Park. Here you will find static and interactive informations.

The Natural Park of Serra da Estrela is stunningly beautiful.

Several historical and mountain villages are 30 to 60 minutes far by car.

How to get there

Coming from Lisboa, take the A1 until Coimbra Norte and then the IP3 until the IC2 exit. Then head to Nelas and once there, continue towards Seia by the EN231.

Coming from Porto, take the A1 until the connection with the A25 and continue until the Mangualde exit. Head to Nelas and, once there, continue to Seia via EN231.

Once at Seia, take the road to São Romão, following the EN231 towards Covilhã. From S. Romão, drive for about 4 km and you will see a sign to Lapa dos Dinheiros, on your left. Enter the village and follow the signs until Casas da Lapa, where you will check-in.

The village has still agricultural activity, has a beautiful fluvial beach and is ideal for trekking.
