This block of apartments was given the name of 'Castrum Maris'. Castrum maris is latin for 'The Castle by the sea'. This happens to be the medieval name of Fort St Angelo which is exacly in front of our apartments. Under the british rule, the latter became known as HMS St. Angelo and was a focal point in the wartime effort of world war 2.

These brand new seafront apartments are luxurious and designer finished and are equiped with all amneties one expects in top quality accomodation. They are situated in the heart of Senglea in a stunning location of the island with the enjoyable views of the Grand Harbour, Fort St. Angelo and the Capital City Valletta. Moreover the property is close to some of Malta’s key tourist attractions. These state of the art apartments are privately owned and can be rented for both short and long let. The apartment's large balconies enable one to dine/have tea outside whilst absorbing the views of the Grand Harbour and Valletta.

The Island of Malta region

Malta is the largest island. Gozo is the second largest island and is more rural, characterised by fishing, tourism, crafts and agriculture while Comino is largely uninhabited. The population is 400,000 inhabitants over an area of 316sq km and a coastline of 196.8km. With superbly sunny weather, sandy beaches, a thriving nightlife and 7,000 years of intriguing history, there is a great deal to see and do.

On 1st January 2008 Malta adopted the euro as its currency. On 1st February 2008 the euro became the only legal tender currency in Malta and Gozo. In line with EU legislation on controls of cash entering or leaving the Community, any person entering or leaving Malta carrying cash or other monetary value of which is equal to or in excess of €10,000 or equivalent is obliged to fill in the appropriate declaration form available from Customs.


Medical care in Malta is available through both public and private hospitals and the quality of medical care in Malta is excellent. However we suggest that before you travel to the Maltese Islands all necessary measures are taken to ensure that you, and anyone else travelling with you, is up-to-date on all routine and recommended immunisations according to schedules defined in your respective country.


One can make use of the public tranport service which operates around Malta and Gozo. One can also make use of taxis. In order to cross between Malta and Gozo a ferry operates throughout the day.


Malta's weather and climate are strongly influenced by the sea and have a very characteristic Mediterranean flavour, similar to that found in southern Italy or southern Greece. The climate is typically Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers, warm and sporadically wet autumns, and short, cool winters with adequate rainfall. Winters are mild with only rare occurrences of cold weather brought by north and northeast winds from central Europe. In fact, daytime winter temperatures almost never fall below 10ºC (50ºF), while night-time winter temperatures never fall below 5ºC (41ºF). Summers are warm, dry and very sunny. The weather usually shows signs of warming up in April, heralding in a long spell of hot, dry weather. It rarely rains from April to August. July and August are Malta's hottest months with daytime temperatures usually above 30ºC (86ºF) and quite often also above 35ºC (95ºF).


Malta has its own language Maltese, with English being the second native language. Many citizens around Malta speak both Maltese and English fluently. One can also find other languages being spoken including Italian and French.


It is well served by public transport, and the bus terminus is 5 min away on foot. An operational water taxi service is also available right from few meters away to the capital city Valletta.

The building is located within easy reach of a number of bars and restaurants where one can enjoy a light snack or a delicious dinner along the seafront.

You can also find within the area mini markets, butchers, green grocers and sweet shops.

We also offer transport to and from the airport upon request. However one can either grab a taxi from within the airport or use the public transport.

15 minute drive to Pretty Bay in Birzebbugia, and 20 minutes to Marsacala Bay. 15 minute drive to Marsa Golf Course.

This appartment lived up to our expectations.....and more!Had everything we required,the balcony was fantastic,and we spent many happy and contented hours watching the harbour and cruise liners coming and going.many a bottle of wine was enjoyed here.Nearby restraunts were extremely friendly and the food was to suit all tastes.Everything is within walking distance,and we made good use of the 6.50 euro weekly bus ticket to get out and about.Joseph was at hand to offer advice and help if needed.We missed this appartment the moment we left.Highly recommended.Thanks Joseph,hope to see you in the future.Take care and good luck.

"You feel privileged to be able to stay here."

Joseph was excellent both at responding to queries I had via e-mail even before we got there, right up to being on hand to help if there was anything we needed during our stay. Whilst the stunning views made our stay that extra special, the overall cleanliness & presentation of the apartment, the food pack and Joseph's welcome really made everything perfect. Thanks to Joseph having such high standards, (it was nice to be able to go to an apartment that felt fresh and clean and not have to spend a time cleaning it ourselves to make it feel comfortable). Some of the best bits of Malta we enjoyed were: Jacuzzi bath followed by glass of wine whilst enjoying the grand harbour lit up at night. Walking around Valletta after takng a short taxi boat ride across the the harbour from the apartment. Palazzo Parisio lunch about 35 Eur each but fantastic ambience, service and food quality. Fort Rinella including live demos, horses and hands on firing Martini Henry 1874 rifle and holding real swords and bayonets. Driving to other parts of the island with great views such as Dingli Cliffs then driving through places like St Juliens, Sliema and realising that the harbour we were in was the best place on the island (how satisfying).

"Scenic paradise"

This is the ideal retreat to sit and watch the world go by. In an ideal location with local restaurants and shops within walking distance and excellent views over the harbour. You can just sit back and watch all the various water traffic from cruise liners to local water taxis come and go. Easy access to Valletta either by boat or regular bus service. Local restaurants with good food, reasonably priced and friendly service. Had a great holiday and will try and return again next year.

"Seafront Apartment with sensational views!"

Our Seafront Apartment on Grand Harbour was a perfect location for a stay in Malta and we enjoyed the daily changing view of life in the harbour visable from our balcony. Joe and his family could not have been more helpful . We arrived late in the evening and it was good to discover some food essentials already in the fridge! Transport to Valetta was quick by water taxi right from our door but cheaper by local bus. We used both. For those who want to soak up the sun the balcony does not get the sun through the day but the shade and the cool tiled interior would be an asset in the heat of summer.

"A very special and unique location"

We had a wonderful long weekend in this apartment due in no small way to the hospitality, friendliness and courtesy of its owner Joe Duca. He went to great trouble to make us welcome and to assist us in every way possible. The setting of the apartment is very unique and special, commanding panoramic views of the Grand Harbour. It was a fascinating location and we enjoyed seeing all forms of marine activity from seaplanes to water taxis and from private yachts to commercial shipping. The apartment itself is very new and equipped to the highest standard. Senglea is a quiet and tranquil location full of history. However, this may not suit those seeking a buzzy place with nightlife. All in all, we are very happy to highly recommend this apartment.

"A magnificent view and lovely apartment"

We spent much of our time at the apartment looking out at the fabulous view of Valetta and the harbour. The apartment is spacious, beautifully furnished, and had everything we needed for our stay. Senglea is a nice neighbourhood and we found the local people very friendly and courteous. We had a very enjoyable and memorable stay in Malta.

"Stunning views of Valletta from one stunning apartment!!"

We stayed in Duca Flats in April this year for 5 days for our first holiday in Malta. The apartment is finished to a very high spec. Joe's hospitality was excellent right from the word go, he made our stay extremely comfortable and have already recommended it many of our friends. The trip from Joe's apartments to Valletta by the water taxis was in particular very enjoyable. Malta is must see destination and has something for everyone!!

"Breathtaking view in a large and well equipped appartment"

Very helpful owner made us feel welome and gave us any help we needed. Appartment is very well equipped and comfortable. View over the grand harbour is unique and unforgettable. We stayed in a seaside resort after our stay in Senglea - no comparison... Senglea is still an authentic, non touristic place to stay which justified for us the 15-10 mins busride to La Valetta. Small grocers who know you and greet you after a couple of days, lovely walk around the harbour - we loved it! If you look for sun, beach and nightlife, you'd rather stay in on of the places along the seaside.

"Lovely apartment, great location, really helpful owners."

A high specification apartment that has been equipped to an excellent standard.Marvellous views from the balconies across the historic harbour. A truly relaxing spot.Easy to get to other parts of the Island from here.Great , small local shops with shopkeepers delighted to help you.Some nice restaurants close by.A genuine Malta experience.Really enjoyed our stay.
