The Brittany / Morbihan region
Brittany is the peninsula of North West France. Mysterious and fascinating are its features from medieval fortresses to sandy coves including pink grantite cliffs. The beaches are sandy and beautiful and a sunbathers paradise. You can explore the modern,dynamic cities and bustling ports-sampling the fresh seafoods-then escape to the flower-covered islands inhabitated by sea birds.
Morbihan occupies the central area of Brittany and places of interest vary from Neolithic standing stones,to the Gulfe du Morbihan a "little sea" The gentle mediterranean climate creates a popular tourist resort. Main Places of interest Port Loius, Carnac, Quiberon, Larmor Plaqe, Lorient, Vannes, Josselin and Pontivy.
Seglien area
Pontivy (Napopeon Ville) is the nearest main town to La Grande Maison, Seglien. This town, capital of the Rohan dynasty has two distinct parts, Medieval timber framed houses and a great Chateau des Rohan.
Situated on the river Blavet Pontivy provides great places of interest as well as providing a great shopping area. Guemene-sur-Scorff is located to the other side of Seglien and has history back to Norman times with shops, super markets ,bars and restaurants.
Seglien is a small village with a French bar/shop, an English shop, English Bar, Internet Cafe. There are local markets, festivals, vide greniers (car boots) and many local attractions, aswell as a water sports lake in the area.
How to get there
The following are approximate driving times from various ports and airports; Sea Ferry Ports;- St.Malo 1hr 40mins, Roscoff 1hr 40mins, Cherbourg 4hrs,Caen 3 hrs, Le Harve 4 hrs. Airports;- Dinard, Brest and Rennes approx. 1 hr 30mins. Channel Tunnel;- 6 hrs. Directions from your point of arrival in France will be e.mailed direct to you when requested, the nearest towns being Guemene-sur-Scorff or Pontivy.

Further details outdoors: The gardens may be locked for the safety of young children. The carpark which is also lockable holds 4 family saloons. Within the village is an internet cafe. Also at our other, nearby property, internet and telephone facilities are available. There is a tennis court in the village which is available for guests of La Grande Maison. Next to the property is a small children's play park with roundabout, climbing frame etc Organic seasonal vegetables may be provided from the vegetable garden, when available. Fishing in the area, is good, sea, river and lake.
