Cottage for Couples. The Haven is a lovely one bedroom self-catering property, the wing of a large house, located in the heart of East Sussex in the village of Sedlescombe, near Battle. A picturesque village with a sloping village green surrounded by half-timbered houses some of which date back as far as the 15th century, both the village and church are recorded in the Domesday Book. On arrival of the Romans in 43AD, the significant reserves of iron ore in the Weald were intensively exploited and in Sedlescombe, ore extraction and small scale furnace production of iron was already well established and because of these important links with the Romans, a large part of Sedlescombe is now in an archaeological notification area.

Just outside the village of Sedlescombe you will find The Sedlescombe Organic Vineyard, bluebell walks through ancient woodlands and picnic areas surrounded by ancient oaks overlooking lush pastures. Take a leisurely self-guided walk on the Vineyard and Woodland Nature Trail followed by a tasting of award-winning organic Wines.

Ideal for couples seeking a relaxing break in peaceful surroundings, the cottage has plenty of local towns, villages and rolling countryside to explore. The Sussex coastline is just a short drive away with the opportunity to visit historic Rye, Winchelsea, Hastings and Bexhill-on-sea. There is a lovely pub restaurant, The Queens Head, in Sedlescombe village and many other great places to eat further afield.

Bookings can commence on any day and there is only one night minimum stay.

As you arrive at The Haven, head down the footpath to the front door and arrive into a spacious hall which offers hanging space for all your coats, wellies etc.

Ground Floor

On the ground floor is an open plan sitting/dining/kitchen room offering a comfy sofa with a TV, Freeview and DVD player. French doors lead down to a decking area, adjacent to owners private studio (not used when guests in residence) with the most glorious views over the valley and beyond. The BBQ makes this an ideal place for eating out during the hotter times of the year or for just sitting and relaxing with a great book and a glass of wine.

There is a small round dining table and chairs and a rather nifty Elfin kitchen which offers two hobs and a combination microwave/grill oven to cook with. The kitchen unit is fully stocked with all the necessary kitchen utensils and pans.

There is also a spacious wet room with shower, WC, basin and heated towel rail. Some toiletries provided. To the right of the front door is a staircase leading upstairs to a bedroom with a Kingsize bed, bedside table and lights, wardrobe and French doors leading out to a small Juliet Balcony which offers wonderful views out over the Sussex countryside.

Shared garden

Guests have access to the lovely garden. The plants and shrubs in the garden compliment the meadows and fields which adjoin them. A haven for wildlife, there is a large, abundantly stocked fish pond containing some of the largest Koi carp you are ever likely to see!

Additional Amenities

Wi-Fi available, DVD player, iPod dock, hairdryer, bedlinen, bath towels. There is a washing machine in a separate utility room – please contact owners for use.

Booking information

Bookings can commence on any day and there is only one night minimum stay. Parking is available to the side of the property.

Strictly no smoking in this property. This property is happy to accept one dog. There is a £20 fee per dog per week which must be pre-booked. Please remember that dogs are not allowed to be left unattended in the property at any time and are not allowed upstairs or on the furniture.

The prices quoted on holiday lettings do not reflect our seasonal banding.
