The Paphos region
Paphos is a fascinating area of Cyprus with something for everyone. Beach lovers may enjoy Aphrodite's Rock, Coral Bay, Pissouri Bay or Lara Bay (look for Turtle nests on the beach). A cosmoplitan array of restaurants and pavement cafes may be found in Paphos itself and more traditional restaurants in the local villages. The Harbour at Kato (Old) Paphos offers opportunities for boat trips, fishing trips or diving.
The area is steeped in history. At the House of Dionysos and at Curium (along the coast) can be seen the remains of Greek and Roman buildings, an amphitheatre and magnificent mosaics. The Tombs of the Kings, spread over a vast area, are impressive underground tombs dating back to the 4th century BC. Carved out of solid rock - some are decorated with Doric pillars. High officials rather than Kings were buried here, but the magnificent tombs gave the locality its name. Kykkos Monastery and Agios Neofytos Monastery are well worth a visit.
Local attractions for children include Paphos Bird & Animal Park, Paphos Go Karting Centre, Mini Golf, Aphrodite Waterpark, the Adonis Baths and Waterfall.
Ascot Tours will pick you up from the Villa and take you on a days tour up in to the Troodos Mountains or the Akamas peninsular. They use Landrovers which allow for some real off road driving and the tours are well designed to give you a real taste of the real Cyprus.
Golfers are spoilt for choice with courses at Secret Valley, Aphrodite Hills, Tsada and the new Nick Faldo designed course - Elea.
Walkers may enjoy walking along the coastal path to Aphrodite's Beach or a drive up to the Troodos mountains where there are many trails and picnic areas.
Secret Valley Resort
The Villa overlooks the Secret Valley golf course with views across to Aphrodite Hills. Its position provides magnificent panoramic views of the Mediterranean sea and Mountains. Only a few minutes drive from the sea, there is a nature reserve and nature trail which follows the coastline to Aphrodite beach. The area is ideal for walkers and joggers.
A car is advisable but within a short driving distance there are plenty of activities:
Kouklia Village: Is only 5 minutes drive and has a number of traditional tavernas, at least 2 minimarkets, and an icecream parlour. The entrance to the famed Aphrodite Sanctuary, a temple which was built to worship the goddess Aphrodite, is also close to the village square.
Mandria Village - Several tavernas and a very popular fish and chip restaurant.
Aphrodite Hills - only a few minutes drive. Golf, Tennis, Spa, several restaurants from casual to fine dining, Costa Coffee and a small supermarket.
Pissouri and Pissouri Bay - a good selection of restaurants, bars, shops, water sports, including wind surfing and jet skis
Paphos - approx 15 minutes drive and offers, a large variety of restaurants, bars and shops. Water Park, Mini golf, Bird Park and Zoo, and Ten Pin Bowling.
Coral Bay - approx 20 minutes drive - popular beach with watersports
Aphrodite's Rock - Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty is said to have emerged from the sea at this spot in 1200BC. Today a pebbly but stunning beach with rock formations rising from the sea.
Troodos Mountains - stunning scenary and in the Winter months you can ski here in the morning and be on the beach in the afternoon. We highly recommend Ascot Tours day trip in to the Troodos mountains with off road driving.

"Stunning villa with stunning views"
After many hours of searching the internet for a villa big enough for 9 of us, we decided on Villa Amphora and what a great choice it was. Coming from Bahrain, we are used to spacious accommodation and this villa certainly met our expectations. The living areas were large and airy with an excellent kitchen, two sitting areas, games areas and a large dining table. The 4 bedrooms were plenty large enough, with the master bedroom an absolute delight. We were 8 most of the time, visiting for a family wedding, with us, our 80+ year old parents (the downstairs bedroom and en-suite was a bonus), a couple of very dear friends, a son and his girlfriend and then, for four nights, our youngest son (17). The spaciousness meant that everyone had their own space and the outdoors area, with a large raised patio, a good sized pool and lots of pool-side area meant that everyone could do their own thing.
The local agents/managers were very helpful and the little touches like the swan-shaped towels on every bed made it very easy to settle in. The villa is very well equipped and we wanted for nothing.
The views over the valley, to the golf courses and the sea topped everything off and we all have a wonderful relaxing holiday (as well as a lovely wedding!)

The villa was booked as my daughter was getting married locally and we needed somewhere big enough to take all the family and have room for entertainment.
The Villa is extremely comfortable and the ideal place for a family holiday away from the 'tourists'. I particularly liked sitting on the veranda overlooking the pool and the valley as the sun went down. There was a welcome pack which provided the essentials for arrivals: bread, milk, butter, tea, coffee, wine & beer.
The local management team, Rob & Helen, were really helpful explaining the use of the villa utilities and suggesting local supermarkets, places to eat and visit.
We all had a great time staying at Villa Amphora and would highly recommend it for a superb relaxing holiday away from the crowds.

"A beautiful villa with great views"
This was our second stay at Villa Amphora so clearly it is nice enough to revisit!! We would consider booking again. The villa is very well equipped for the whole family with plenty of toys and games to occupy the children. Some great restaurants close by. A winner in our book. The only downsides this year were the ants which were persistent in the kitchen due to the incredible heatwave Cyprus were experiencing & the diabolical car rental (AVIS). Do not let this put you off as we have had two memorable holidays here and loved every moment of them.

"Amazing Mahoosive Villa"
The villa was amazing all the amenties you could possibly need and plenty of room we could have had a party in the master suite which myself and husband claimed. You do need a car for shopping and sighseeing,we went to a few coves that are only a ten min drive away and pissouri beach where the grandchildren went in the sea.
Although we spent most of our time in the pool as you could sunbathe or swim and see amazing views over the mountains and we even had a gazebo where the children could sit in the shade and still be with everyone. We only ate out once as we found it quite expensive, but we enjoyed BBQ most nights and the large supermarket in Paphos was the cheapest to buy food. This was our first time in Cyprus and we all had a fab time and a lot of this was due to the Villa Amphora and we will definitely be back.

"A Stunning Villa with great views"
Villa Amphora offers first class accommodation with excellent amenities for all age groups. We received a very good service from the owner and local agents. The property is very clean and well equipped. Our family (of 8) loved the pool area and there is loads of space for everybody. Would recommend a visit to the Troodos mountains, a car is essential, Paphos is the most convenient airport & the town offers good shopping facilities & restaurants. Cyprus is a great holiday destination and this villa is of a very high standard and a great base to enjoy the island, would love to visit again.
