We have been coming to Cyprus for several years now and renting the villa out for four. As the villa is our second home we don't like to over do it with rentals as this would cause too much wear and tear on the furnishings, and we think that on your visit you will be able to tell the difference in standard to many others. Inside and out has recently been repainted and the mature garden that has fruit and palm trees is well maintained.
About this location
The Paphos District
The Paphos area nestles in the lee of the Western Troodos Mountains, which add another dimension to this area of scenic beauty. Paphos became the capital of Cyprus under the successors of Alexander the Great - the Ptolemies and in those days its harbour was a busy and it has a history dating back thousands of years.
Innumerable ancient sites are to be found in the area of Paphos and these are included in UNESCO's list of World Cultural Heritage sites. It continued as the island's first city for more than seven centuries, retaining its importance under Roman rule. Bordered by a lovely coastline, the Paphos area has charming villages in its mountains where life has gone apparently unchanged over the years and country traditions have been kept alive.
Secret Valley Resort
In nearby Kouklia village, you can find Old Paphos, one of the most celebrated places of pilgrimage of the ancient Greek world and once an ancient city kingdom of Cyprus. Here you will find the ruins of the famous Temple of Aphrodite. The most ancient remains date back to the 12th century B.C. The temple was one of the most important places of cult and pilgrimage of the ancient world until the 3rd-4th century A.D. The museum in the Lusignan Manor is small but impressive with many finds from the area.
Secret Valley itself is the largest golf resort on the island. It covers 10 000 000m² of prime mountainous and valley terrain. The resort has captivating sea and mountain views and is located just off the main Paphos motorway.
80% of the resort is and must remain, a green area. Currently the resort has many attractions, such as the completed 18 hole landscaped golf course, driving range, practise putting greens, a full pro-shop and the clubhouse. The clubhouse has been built to an extremely high standard with a full bar (indoor and
outdoor), restaurant, lounge areas and full conference facilities.
Other places of interest in the area are:
Peyia village, 19 km north-west of Paphos - Ayios Georghios Basilica and the picturesque fountains.
Ayios Neophytos Monastery – Located 9 km north of Paphos.
Baths of Aphrodite (Akamas Peninsula, near Polis)- 48 km north of Paphos.
Tombs of The Kings - underground tombs carved out of solid rock dating to 4th century BC
The Mosaics Of Paphos - House of Dionysos, House of Theseus and the recently excavated House of Aion.
