"Perfect Weekend Retreat with a stunning back drop"

We arrived under the cover of darkness to discover a beautiful wooden lodge. A real home from home. A well equipped kitchen, beautiful clean bathrooms, and great living accommodation. Including a 40inch TV and of course the hot tub!

We quickly unpacked, and took advantage of the private hot tub, which was a real treat!

We had the best nights sleep in a long time, with our memory foam mattresses (it made it difficult to want to get out of bed the next day)

Now with daylight we were amazed to see the stunning views overlooking the private lake and lots of wildlife. Sitting having breakfast overlooking such a stunning view was yet another luxury treat.

We planned a visit to York, taking advantage of the Park and Ride facilities, which yet again took away all the stresses and strains of having to drive around and park in a heavily congested city.

Returning back home to yet again enjoy an evening unwinding in the hot tub, with a crisp clear night, the sky was full of stars and managed to pick out quite a few constellations, Made even better with no light pollution that we are used to living in the city.

The welcome pack we received contained everything we could possibly need, with suggestions of things to do, places to eat, walks and plenty of other information.

On the Sunday we set out on one of the suggested walks to the local village, Where we found a lot of the locals out walking too, all of whom were very friendly and welcoming.

The only issue we had was on the first evening we had brought a selection of DVDs to watch, but the DVD player sadly was jumping. But we contacted the maintenance number the following morning and within twenty minutes they had been and replaced the DVD player with a fully working model! Couldn't ask for better service really!

So all in all, we were made to feel very welcome, the facilities were outstanding and we are already in the process of planning our next trip to Yellowtop!

One other thing that could be considered to improve the facilities would be the signage on the roadside for Yellowtop. The only visible signs are right on the entrance to the park, and particularly if the first time you arrive is at night, it's quite easy to miss the first time. Maybe a sign a few hundred yards before the turn off would assist? But once you've found it for the first time then there's no issues.

Hi there :)

Thank you so much for such an amazing review! It's a pleasure to read and I hope others feel the same!

We are happy to hear that you liked your stay at Yellowtop so much and in the case of any breakages / faulty electronics we do try to respond as quickly as possible so i'm glad that DVD player was changed promptly for you.

We would love to have you back to visit us again in the future, and again, thank you for your great review!

Kind Regards,

"Idyllic country retreat"

We stayed for 3 nights over the Jubilee bank holiday weekend and had a great time. The weather was up and down, but that didn't put us off. Yellowtop Country Park is situated in the middle of nowhere, 20 miles or so to the south east of York, 25 minutes to the Park and Ride at the Designer Outlet (the best, cheapest and easiest way of getting into the city centre).
The lodge was very well equipped - often in the self-catering places you get what can only be described as a 'kitchenette' as they're not really expecting you to do any cooking, but this had everything you could possibly need, even a dishwasher, plus the most ma-hoo-sive flat screen LCD TV and DVD player.
The mattresses were top quality - another gripe with this kind of thing normally is how poor the beds are, but these were superb. A couple of the best nights sleep ever!
The kids loved being able to collect their own eggs from the chickens, too.
Scan mobile coverage (on O2, at least) - another major bonus in my book! But the onsite wi-fi was great (again, normally free wi-fi is RUBBISH but this was superb. 2-3Mb download speeds over most of the park!).
The hot-tub was also a major bonus - well worth the extra few quid for. It was very welcome after a day of pounding the pavements in York.
Don't expect much in the way of on-site facilities - this isn't Center Parcs! But it's a great base for exploring York, especially, and I can see myself coming again.

Thank you.
Hope to see you again soon.
