The West Country region

Devon has long been a favourite destination for tourists with its beautiful coastline and dramatic inland Moors. The World Heritage SIte of the Jurassic Coast stretches along East Devon and West Dorset with its unique fossil bearing geology and there are numerous Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty within easy reach.

If you want to venture out for a day trip the Cathedral City of Exeter and the Dartmoor National Park are within easy reach by car.

The stunning coastline of Lyme Bay provides a variety of both pebble and sand beaches for sea swimming, walking and birdwatching. The imposing Edwardian seafront of Sidmouth and the striking scenery of the Lyme Regis Cobb which inspired Jane Austen and John Fowles are also close by.

Seaton, Devon

Seaton itself has a long flat promenade for strolls with a number of cafes, pubs and restaurants and an interesting and varied selection of independent shops. Axe Cliff Golf Club with its beautiful cliff top course and Seaton Tennis and Bowls clubs welcome visitors. There are a good variety of children's play areas and the main public park slopes down to the sea front.

You may also like to visit the unique electric tramway which also gives marvellous views for birdwatching in the Axe Estuary or see the Model Railway Centre at Pecorama. The neighbouring pretty fishing village of Beer has many excellent restaurants, tea shops and galleries and also in the local area are the nationally renowned restaurants, River Cottage H Q & Canteen and Hix's Oyster House.

"Wonderful, clean, child friendly accommodation!"

We visited Seaton with our two young Grandsons age 2 & 3 and this was a perfect home from home. Spotlessly clean, very spacious and everything you need for young children is there, including toys. The house is within easy walking distance to the beach, a playpark, cafe's and local shops. We travelled to Seaton to visit Pecorama and this was the perfect base.
The owners couldn't have been more helpful and there was a lovely touch of a cream tea and a bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival. We will definitely stay here again:-) Highly recommended.
