The West Country region
The Axe Valley is surrounded by superb coastal and countryside scenery in this naturally beautiful part of Devon. Running through is the historic River Axe which meets the sea at Lyme Bay, now part of the designated World Heritage Site known as the Jurassic Coast.
Seaton is an unspoilt seaside town in East Devon on the south coast of England. It faces onto Lyme Bay to the west of the mouth of the River Axe with stunning white cliffs to one side and red cliffs on the other. Adjoining are Axmouth with its quaint harbour offering boat trips and crab fishing from the quayside.
The idyllic fishing village of Beer with its famous quarry caves and family activities at Pecorama is only 1 mile along the coast.
Situated between Sidmouth and Lyme Regis the Axe Valley offers plenty for every member of your family to do, fulfilling whatever your interests from exploring all the wonderful variety of scenery and activities including walking, cycling, fishing, wildlife, water sports, arts, country crafts, local history or pottering around the unique and individual shops unlike those found on the major high streets.
At the heart of Seaton and close to the seafront are traditional gardens with activities for all ages - tennis courts, putting greens, bowls and a children's playground with a charming pavilion serving cream teas. The traditional promenade with beach huts and café provides access to the mostly shingle beach stretching for about a mile.
For sightseeing with a difference you can take a trip on Seaton Tramway running from Seaton to Colyton along the River Axe passing through the Seaton Marshes Nature Reserve with its huge variety of bird life.

We booked to stay here in August 2014 for a week and enjoyed the stay. The house is well equipped and it was handy for walks to the beach and shops. No need for car really if you wanted to stay local.… More

"A great place to stay in a quiet seaside resort."
An excellent place to stay in Seaton. Driftwood is situated in a quiet lane, and a 15 minute walk down to the town, and a little longer back to Driftwood, as this up hill! Driftwood itself is highly f… More

"Perfect, homely, relaxing stay"
Although the weather could have been better the accomodation more than made up for it. It was a modern two bedroom bungalow with large rooms yet it had a homely cosy feel. It was clean, fully equipped, and well maintained, and Gary, the owner, phoned on arrival to ensure all was well. The property also had a large conservatorty leading onto a fully enclosed garden with summerhouse so our dog was able to really enjoy herself too! Seaton seafront was a pleasant 600 metres walk away and being a keen sea fisherman I found the lure of this steeply shelving beach too much to resist. Luckily I was rewarded with fairly decent catches, especially when the mackerel shoals were in! There were plenty of places to visit in East Devon and West Dorset within a reasonable distance and would certainly recommend this property to anyone, not just friends and family. Put it this way we will ceratinly be re-booking for next year!

"Recommended - you should try it"
Lovely clean and well equipped bungalow - excellent accommodation - would recommend it.
The only downsides - we had trouble locating the property - local directions would be useful when pre-booking.
Seaton town looks a bit tired and rundown - the other local towns are much better ie Lyme Regis and Beer.
Would not recommend FryDays chip shop - 30 min wait for a takeaway and you must pay upfront!
