The West Country / Devon region
East Devon/West Dorset has some of the loveliest scenery in the UK.
It has been designated 'The Jurassic Coast' due to its rich heritage and numerous fantastic fossil finds.
The river Axe estuary is a wonderful bird sanctuary and on the doorstep!
The Seaton, Devon / Axmouth area
Axmouth is a lovely, small, unspoilt village on the Devon/Dorset border, close to the popular attractions of Seaton, Colyton, Beer, Branscombe, Lyme Regis and Sidmouth.
There are two pubs in the village, serving great food and drinks. The ancient Harbour Inn has a wonderful open log fire- superb for a cosy night in the winter and only a few minutes walk!
Seaton is famous for the tram railway which runs from the town centre to the charming town of Colyton along the river Axe and its haven for birdlife. A great day out for children and adults alike.

The cottage is presented to a high standard, is very warm and everything is as described. We had a great few days visiting the local area and ate at the pub in Axmouth where they serve good local food and cater for everyone. There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area - well worth a visit late October. If you want to take some time out to relax but enjoy the comforts of home, then this is definitely the place to book. Response: Thank you for your kind review. It makes our day to know that our guests have had a great time and found The Old Post Office comfortable. If you would like to come again, we would love to rebook you and offer a 'returer's discount' of 10%. Richard and Julie Shaw |

The Old Post Office is tucked away in the quiet village of Axmouth, close to tourist magnets such as Seaton and Lyme Regist, but feeling very much like a piece of the Dorset countryside. The house has been recently renovated, and is incredibly well-equipped and comfortable. Not much garden space outside (although enough to sit out in when the weather is good), but a great children's playground just up the road, wonderful walks, and the beach at Seaton only 5 minutes drive away. Thorougly enjoyed our stay, and would recommend it highly. Don't miss fossil hunting and the River Cottage cafe in Axminster. |
