The Devon region

Seaton has a long history going back to Saxon and Roman times. The Haven cliff was a major navigation landmark for seafarers who were endeavouring to sail into Axmouth harbour. The neighbouring villages of Beer and Branscombe were home of many smugglers, the most famous of which was Jack Rattenbury.

Seaton is right at the heart of the beautiful Jurassic Coast which is England’s first World Heritage Site. This covers 95 miles of truly stunning coastline from East Devon to Dorset.

Seaton, Devon

These are just a few of the Local Attractions:

The Jurassic Coast is England’s first World Heritage Site. This covers 95 miles of truly stunning coastline from East Devon to Dorset along which there are many enjoyable walks to be found.

Seaton Tramway runs from Seaton to Colyton. Stopping at Colyford you can alight here and enjoy a walk into Colyton along the river. After strolling around the village, you could make your return journey on the tram.

Pecorama is located high on the hillside above the picturesque fishing village of Beer. Enjoy all the different gardens on show and travel on the narrow gauge railway.

A guided tour will take in 2,000 years of history at the incredible Beer Quarry Caves. View the vast underground chambers with their majestic vaulted ceilings and huge supporting pillars of natural stone.

The Donkey Sanctuary charity has been operating successfully worldwide for 40 years. Visit their farm to see the work they do and meet some of the very friendly donkeys they have rescued.

What a little gem. We had a very comfortable stay here; everything you could think of was provided even down to a cafetiere and a biscuit tin. There was an extremely well equiped kitchen and everything was spotless. The property was in a very convenient location being only a few yards from the beach and 5+ minutes walk to the town, harbour, tram, main bus stop etc. The owners were very helpful and friendly and there were fresh flowers on the table and fresh fruit and a tea tray including a packet of biscuits in the kitchen, which was a lovely touch. There is so much to do in Seaton and I would highly recommend this property and Seaton.

"Mother of the Groom, and family, wedding base!"

Confused by the title? Don't be. When my eldest son and his lovely fiancée announced that they were going to be holding their wedding in the Branscombe area of glorious East Devon, I knew that accommodation for the event would have to be flexible enough for all those last minute 'Mum' request.
Already knowing the Seaton area and it's local facilities I decided to choose a self-catering venue. Having searched the web I came across 'Carisbrooke'. The reviews read well so decided this was the place. The family and I were not disappointed!
Allistair and Zoe are a lovely couple who have put a lot of thought into the accommodation, of which lots of good points are already mentioned in the guest book and reviews. Carisbrooke is truly a 'Home from Home' and more. Even my eight year old Grandson requested sleepovers he liked the place so much!
If you are looking for somewhere to stay that is relaxing, well located for the town, beach and pleasant strolls in the evening; the harbour and river at sunset are wonderful, then you really can't go wrong. Don't deliberate about booking Carisbrooke, DO IT!
Now where is my 2014 diary so I can book next years break? ..

"Very comfortable accomodation, with home from home feel."

Everything has been thought of by the hosts, including tea, coffee, milk, etc. handy if you arrive late and miss the shops. Well equipped kitchen with butler sink, dishwasher, range cooker, cookware, utensils, etc. Utility room with a washing machine a hotel would be proud of. The lounge is comfortably furnished with 2 leather sofas and dining table at the end of the room. Wi-fi connection is provided, so take your laptop.
The sea front is about 1 minutes amble, and the ice-cream kiosk is near.
The property is within easy strolling distance to Axmouth harbour and Seaton town centre.
The recently built Tesco is within easy reach and the store does not impinge on the outlook of the property.
Ideally situated for all local venues and coastal towns and scenery the property features a carport at the side making loading and unloading cars a doddle.
Our second stay here and not our last.
