The West Country / Cornwall region

There is so much to see and do in this special corner of the country, all the year round! Summer is fantastic but we love the winter months too, nothing beats a sunny winters day strolling along the beach or sitting around the log fire in the pub at lunchtime. We benefit from a very mild, temperate climate on the sheltered south cornish coast and are frequently the warmest and sunniest place in the UK, especially during the winter months.
Heading west is LOOE, a popular fishing village with sandy beach, pubs, cafes and shops, you can fish, go crabbing or take a boat from its quay. On from Looe walk the spectacular coast path or drive to TALLAND BAY and indulge in the Talland Bay Beach Cafe's home-made cakes or cream tea. Carry on the coast path or drive to one of Cornwall's most famous, the historic, picture postcard fishing village of POLPERRO. Narrow streets, Cornish slate cottages, quaint pubs and shops.
Further on and worth a visit is FOWEY, especially lunch in The Old Quay House.
Head east from our property and the drive is jaw dropping looking down over WHITSAND BAY, a 5 mile stretch of sand and rocks. Its great for walking and surfing and make time for lunch at The View restaurant. From here walk out to RAME HEAD and then drive/walk onto KINGSAND/CAWSAND, very pretty, sheltered ajoining fishing vlllages with 2 beaches, great pubs, a deli and nearby are 800 acres of walking at MOUNT EDGECOMBE PARK. A pedestrain ferry takes you to Plymouth or car ferry from Torpoint to Plymouth.
Inland, don't forget The Eden Project, the National Trust house and garden Lanhydrock, Lost Gardens of Heligan and Bodmin Moor. Lostwithiel is also a must for art and antique shopping. The north coast can be reached in 45minutes, if you fancy Rick Steins fish and chips head for Padstow.
The Seaton, Cornwall area
Follow the river as it winds its way through beautiful woods down to the sea at SEATON and you have arrived; a seaside hamlet with beach cafe, pub, shop and dog friendly beach. Seaton beach is popular with surfers, canoeists and for swimming.
Seaton Countryside park offers sheltered woodland walks, cycle trails and a children's play park.
Walk along the beach to the adjoining village of DOWNDERRY and enjoy a pint or glass of chilled Rose at The Inn on the Shore pub whilst being mesmerised by the sea view or be sure to reserve a table at the recently opened Blue Plate Restaurant - its the talk of the town! A PO/shop can also be found in Downderry. Continue walking along the beach from Downderry to Shag Rock takes 1 hour at low tide.
Walking from our property and down onto the beach, going right towards Looe, don't be amazed if you are the only person on the beach! Fabulous for rock pools, birdwatching and cliff formations. You can walk to MILLENDREATH at low tide and then onto LOOE if you are feeling fit or take the coast path up.
