The West Country region
Cornwall is a fabulous destination for anyone seeking a well earned break. From the dramatic coastline of the north to the sheltered bays in the south, from ancient moorland to soft river estuaries, surfers, walkers, sailors, gastronauts and visitors simply seeking a break from a hectic world will discover a fascinating culture, food to die for and a naturally thrilling adventure playground.
The South West's sunny climes boast numerous top class attractions such as the world famous Eden Project, Tate St Ives, National Aquarium and National Maritime Museum, all of which are easy day visits from Seaton.
Literally on the doorstep, Seaton Countryside Park offers a children's play area, sensory garden, boules piste and cycle ways, as well as the delightful walks to view the varied wildlife including: otters, kingfishers, dormice and fritillary butterflies. The Park is also Cornwall's first Green Flag Countryside Park and Local Nature Reserve. The prestigious Green Flag Award is similar to the Blue Flag Award for clean and well maintained beaches and recognises the best green spaces in the country
Seaton is situated in the South East region of Cornwall, close to the border with Devon. Nearby Plymouth provides a wealth of high quality cuisine in the famous Barbican area along with its theatre, shops, aquarium and naval displays.
Back in Cornwall the area is steeped in history and offers the chance to explore days gone by with trips to the moors and the relics of Cornwall's mining heritage and coastal towns where smugglers plied their trade. The historic towns of Looe and Popperro are only a short drive away, or for the more adventurous, within walking distance along the beautiful coastal path. Both towns operate small fishing fleets to provide local restaurants with fresh fish and also to sell to the general public.
There are extensive cycle ways on the Camel Trail and Cardinham Woods at Bodmin. As well as the plethora of water sports offered along the coast, there is also a water sports centre at nearby Siblyback Lake. Other nearby attractions are the Monkey Sanctuary, Karting World, Hoverworld (yes you get to drive a hovercraft!), Sterts Theatre and day fishing trips from Looe.
The National Trust has properties throughout Cornwall and Devon with a number of attractions close to Seaton including Antony, Cotehele, Saltram and Lanhydrock. Nearby Mount Edgecumbe house and country park is operated jointly by Cornwall and Plymouth City Councils.
For golf enthusiasts the Whitsand Bay Golf club is a short drive away and the recently refurbished St Mellion International Resort is close by with its two championship golf courses, including the UK’s first Jack Nicklaus designed ‘Signature Course’, one of only three in England .
Chy Mor has extensive visitor information held at the property and as locals ourselves we are always happy to provide details of local attractions and events during your stay. Please ask if you have any special interests or requests.

"Fabulous house - excellent choice for a family getaway."
Really enjoyed our stay at this house. Set over 3 storeys it has everything you need for a family holiday. Overlooks a children's play area which our children loved to explore on a regular basis. Seaton beach is sand/shingle with a river running out to the sea which children loved to play in. Cafe was lovely and within walking distance of some lovely bars and pubs. Highly recommend and would love to return

"A fab week at Chy Mor."
We all had a lovely time (we were a party of 9) and thought the house was excellent, plenty of room for all of us,wonderfully clean and presentable, well furnished, had every thing we needed and more. We kept nice and fit with all the stairs and we all loved the reclining chairs. Fantastic views - great time had by all.
Found the beach to be shingle/grit and not golden sand but found a wonderfull golden sandy beach at Whitesand Bay - 10 mins in the car.
Also not terribly empressed with the level of service at Inn on the Shore - however the Copley Arms was fab. The cafe as well we can recommend - Great Breakfast!

"Everything we were looking for."
As a mixed group, we were looking for a large house as a holiday home and base for our stay in Cornwall. The house was clean and well-equipped, with good balcony views over the bay. We stayed locally … More

"Large excellently located house a stones throw from the beach"
Stayed here as a group - two young children (3 and 6), parents and grandparents. The house is very comfortable, well appointed and large. On the ground floor the large garage has a remote controlled door, plus a door to the inner hall - very useful on those rainy british summer days! The main living area is on the top floor with fabulous views over the sea. The kitchen is large and well equipped, with all we needed. The living room has comfortable reclining chairs and sofa - prepare to fight over the electric powered recliner!
There were books, DVD's, board games etc provided, as well as buckets and spades etc in the garage, plenty of entertainment for a range of ages. Bedrooms are all a good size - do note that the smallest is on the ground floor away from the others, good for older children but if you have young children it's worth bringing a baby listener as it's a fair way from the living room.
All floors have a toilet - the downstairs cloakroom also has a very useful shower - ideal for cleaning sandy feet!
Location is perfect, opposite the beach, and with a play park right next door. The village itself is fairly quiet - there's a small shop which sells basics, a pub which we didn't visit, a nice restaurant (which we did) and a beach cafe.
Roads to the village are very windy - the main access is a normal sized road but all others are very narrow single track, so make sure you take the right route if you have a large vehicle or are a nervous driver!
My only negative point about this house is that there is no phone line, and therefore no internet - plus as it's a cove surrounded by hills there's no mobile phone signal at all in the house - you have to stand on the beach to get a rather poor signal - we had a choice of 3 networks and all were the same.

"Fabulous holiday home for a really relaxing family holiday."
The house was top notch, so clean and equipped with anything you could possibly need, Stuart the owner is very friendly and helpful and communicated effectively during booking process and prior to arrival. On arrival he was just finishing change over and was able to show us where things were and ensure we knew about local supermarkets and other facilities. There was a problem with a lock on one of the balcony doors and he sorted it immediately. The beach was across the road, the view from the balcony was lovely, the play park was so close the children (7 & 9) could go and play and we could watch them from the balcony. The double garage was very useful and stored beach equipment for our use. The recycling and bin collection instructions were clearly marked - but watch out for seagulls if you put the rubbish out too soon. The little shop round the corner was very helpful and provided essentials. The cafe opposite did a fantastic hot chocolate and also had an evening menu but we didn't dine there. The pub 2 doors away was pleasant and also did cooked food, but with the kitchen facilites and BBQ in the garden we self catered most days. We were a party of 3 x generations and the accommodation met all our needs and more so.
We were advised to wear shoes on the beach as weavil (?) fish had been found and had caused some injuries when stepped on, however, we wore neoprene shoes, available from the 'little shop' but there were no incidents during our stay.
Great holiday home for beach lovers, walkers and families. House is on 3 levels with stairs so not suitable for people with mobility problems.

"Great place to spend time with family & friends"
Stayed at Chy mor in December 2010 for New Years Eve with friends and enjoyed it so much we booked again with family 3 months later.
The standard of accomodation is first class and is very much a home away from home.
The house is right next to Seaton beach and also the local country park, and is great for those with dogs, children or both.
The house also has a good supply of books, toys, games and dvds for all ages.
Would highly reccomend and we will definately be back.
