The area has an abundance of history and culture with many outstanding places of interest including many castles, historic sites, family friendly activities, museums, working farms and theatres.
Inland the county market town of Lewes is well worth a visit with its imposing Norman castle and historic buildings. There is also a beautiful Cathedral situated in nearby Chichester known as one of the more picturesque cathedrals in England.
Along the coast to the west is Brighton, one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe and known for its great nightlife. To the east Eastbourne is less cosmopolitan but just as fun!
The port town of Newhaven offers a gateway to Europe with a regular ferry crossing to Dieppe, France. If you don't fancy a day trip across you can still enjoy watching the ferry come in and out at night time with its lights glowing on the sea.
Sussex has its own weather system and enjoys temperatures of well above the national average making this trip a possibility 12 months of the year!
