Enquire nowThe Paphos region
The West coast of Cyprus is a wonderful region. The Paphos area in particular, with its blend of tempting modern restaurants, bars and shops are mixed together with plenty of World Heritage historical sites.
Paphos Old town, steeped in history with its narrow streets, is well worth a visit for shopping and a visit to the local market. On the coast is Kato Paphos, a charming harbour with lovely open air bars, cafes and restaurants where you can just sit and soak up the sun and atmosphere, or sample one of the tasty seafood dishes on offer.
Here too there is much to see, with the ancient Paphos castle and the 'House of Dionysos' with its wonderful mosaic floors. Other sites worth a visit, include 'Tomb of the kings', an area of underground tombs dating back to 3 century BC, and further out of Paphos on the road to Limassol, is 'Kourion' an ancient city, with its Roman villas, baths and fully restored amphitheater - a 'must see'.
It's well worth taking the time to explore inland also, - a day spent in the Troodos mountains with ancient monasteries, the pine and oak trees and sleepy stone-built villages is a day to remember.
For families there is always plenty to do in and around the area of Paphos, with the large Aphrodite water park, (with a free bus service from Coral Bay), Paphos aquarium, and Paphos bird park, great for children with its large collection of birds and animals. Why not take advantage of the horse riding, go karting or mini golf?
So, with its fantastic all year round climate and traditional charm, Paphos is an ideal holiday destination with something for everyone.
The Sea Caves / Coral Bay/ St George Bay Pegeia area
The Sea Caves area is one of the most exclusive residential areas in Cyprus. When you consider the scenic coastline and warm clear Mediterranean waters, this is not surprising. Sunsets here are simply stunning. Villa Oniro is in a perfect position, about a 10 - 15 minute walk to the sea and caves.
Proceeding along from Sea Caves you come to the pretty, tiny picturesque fishing harbour of St George with a small sand/shingle beach, and where the boats come in with their catch of the day! A little further along and you come to the Akamas National Park, a nature reserve. The Akamas peninsula is ideal for walking, with its unspoiled coastline and wildlife. This is also where Lara Bay is situated, an important turtle breeding site.
Enjoy a drive through Kathikas, where there are some lovely traditional restaurants, to reach the pretty resorts of Polis and Latchi. Polis is a small town centred around a main square, where you can sit and enjoy an afternoon drink. Latchi is a nice little harbour town, and the fish restaurants here have a good reputation.
Peyia village is a 5 minute drive from the villa, and here you will find supermarkets, banks and welcoming tavernas offering excellent food at reasonable prices.
The resort of Coral Bay is approx 3km from Villa Oniro, only a few minutes drive away. It has plenty of amenities to offer, shops, banks, bars and restaurants. It also boasts the best natural beach in the area, a wide curve of lovely golden sand. It is perfect for children to play, and there are some great watersports on offer too.
Tsada Golf Club, Secret Valley Golf Club and Aphrodite Hills Golf Club are 20 - 30 mins drive from the villa.

Villa Oniro is a lovely, well equipped villa in a great setting. It is close enough to facilities but most of our time was spent around the villa and fantastic pool. The views are stunning and we spent every evening watching the amazing sunsets. We found the booking process extremely straightforward with nothing too much trouble. We all had a memorable time and would not hesitate to return. |
