The Paphos region

Paphos combines ancient history with a cosmopolitan, modern tourist resort. The area by the coast is known as Kato Paphos and boasts a pretty little harbour and plenty of open air cafes and bars. Further inland is the old town of Paphos, known by the locals as Ktima. With its narrow streets, hustle and bustle, covered market and typically Cypriot atmosphere, it is well worth a visit. As a consequence, Paphos is on UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage list.

Cyprus is famous as the birth place of the goddess Aphrodite, Venus in Roman mythology. She is known as the Ancient Greek goddess of love and beauty. Legend says that she emerged from the sea at Aphrodite’s Rock in a surge of sea foam.

Sea Caves

This prime positioned holiday Villa is within an affluent area known as 'Sea Caves' and Akamas Peninsular, a protected area of outstanding natural beauty, yet still close to Coral Bay (4km) and Peyia Village (5km) with their diverse range of traditional and modern bars and restaurants. The property is but 50 metres from one of the best known local tavernas in the area which provides good food, hospitality and views within a peaceful and relaxing setting, next to one of the areas many impressive banana plantations.

The Sea Caves area , like much of Paphos, was once rural and barren land but over recent years the Sea Caves area has changed dramatically. Now the Sea Caves area is one of the finest residential areas in Cyprus, offering some of the most exclusive villas in the island. This is not surprising when you consider its breathtaking rugged Cypriot coastline and small sandy coves with crystal clear Mediterranean waters. Sunsets in the region are simply magical.

Proceeding along from the Sea Caves you come to the pretty, tiny picturesque fishing harbour of St George with a small sand/shingle beach. St George, like Sea Caves, is a perfect spot for snorkelling and scuba diving or topping up your sun tan. We strongly recommend tasting the local speciality "fish meze" in one of the selection of small family run tavernas at St George and the dramatic sunsets are worth the visit alone from any area of this amazing coastline.

Situated 12kms from Paphos on the west coast of Cyprus and just 3km from Sea Caves, Coral Bay is a delightful resort renowned for its superb (blue flag) sandy beaches. The main thoroughfare of Coral Bay is lined with a small but ample selection of shops, restaurants, banks and bars giving you everything you need for a relaxing holiday without losing any of its local charm.

Life in Coral Bay tends to be based around the sandy bay with calm shallow waters, also offering a wide selection of water sports, it is perfect for a day out for all the family.

Other things to do in the area include Paphos Bird Park, Reptile Park, Horse Riding, Akamas Peninsular & Lara Beach Nature Reserve (famous for turtles), Hiking/Walking, Buggy Safaris, 4 x 4 Safaris, Sailing and many more. Amusement and water parks in Paphos are also easily accessible from the area, as are numerous archaeological ruins such as the Tombs of the Kings the mosaics and the Christian Catacombs.

If you want to get out and explore some fantastic scenery, take a trip to Polis, Latchi or even Troodos mountains. Troodos is of course the main mountain range in Cyprus, not many people know that in the can ski!

"Excellent property, superb location - needs a little TLC to be perfect"

Villa Estia is a very nice property, situated north of Corel Bay (Pahpos) by the coast. The villa has plenty of space and is fully air conditioned. Our group arrived in the evening where we were met by the agent for a very brief (a little too brief) introduction to the property. A welcome pack of basic essentials had been left for us, however it was woefully small for our group and consisted of two cans of beer, milk, bread, tea, coffee etc. Disappointingly, many of the lights (inside & outside) were not working which was unfortunate. Equally, the kitchen utensils were very limited and of poor quality. The following day we reported the lighting issue and one or two of the light bulbs were replaced – but many were not. In general, we were surprised that such a high quality villa was missing a few of the touches to make it a superb villa. For example, the outside table and chairs are beautiful – however the table & seating in the BBQ area was the cheap white plastic type. We counted 14 lights that were not working, mostly outside. All-in-all, the property is very nice indeed. All that is needed is improvements to the general maintenance and upkeep of the property. We had a great holiday, blessed with fantastic weather.

"We all loved the Villa"

From the moment we first booked this big family holiday in Cyprus we received all the help and guidance we could ask for from the management team. From Steven who arranged the bookings, including taxis from airport, to car hire info', to Jackie who was our local contact who was virtually 24/7 (much appreciated when one of the grandchildren suffered a medical emergency). Grateful thanks to both.
With ten of us enjoying this trip of a lifetime Villa Estia, at Sea Caves, Peyia, Nr Paphos, was all we could have wished for with plenty of space for us all and numerous options for the dining experience. The children loved the pool and were reluctant to leave it. They even made good use of the pool table in the basement.
A bonus was the Taverna next door (approx' 100 metres away).
The villa was in excellent condition, including the gardens and pool area.
One essential requirement was transport, for shopping, sightseeing etc. Coral Bay was the nearest beach and you would not want to walk.
For info on the villa, as well as others available, e-mail for great service.
Paphos based taxis, Andy Taxi on +357 99 554 249 were so friendly and reliable. On the way to the villa (on a Sunday evening) they offered to stop at the 'local' supermarket for provisions.
Phillipos was that supermarket, if they didn't have it, including a lot of familiar brands, you probably didn't want it anyway.
Regret I can't remember details of the car hire people but the lettings manager, Steven, has their details. Liked the fact we didn't have to fill the cars up when we finished with them, we paid the fuel charge up front on top of hire charges. One less thing to worry about at the end of the holiday.
The Sea Caves Tavern, our neighbours, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Our first meal was at 9.30 pm on arrival day and they happily looked after us, even the fussy eaters.
We have no hesitation in recommending the Villa Estia or any of the other services referred to above.
