GOLF:

The apartment is within a 10 minute walk and overlooks the Dachstein Tauern Golf and Country Club, where golf is definitely stimulating enough to return to do battle! It was designed by Germanys US Masters champion ‘Bernhard Langer’, and is a course on many different elevations with a river, and ponds making up water features and bunkers which lie flat to the green leading you into cunning traps before you see them! You may find it difficult to concentrate with the 360 degree fantastic alpine scenery, in this area described as the jewel in the crown of all Styria.

Schladming / Haus im Ennstal area

-The apartment is nestled in the Enns valley between the impressive Dachstein and Tauern mountain ranges, offering pristine lush green alpine meadows, over 300 crystal clear tarns and invigorating mountain air -and with a population of only 31,148 for the entire region, being over-crowded is never a problem!

Within the village (10 mins walk):

The unspoilt village of Haus has a huge number of marked hiking and cycling routes on hand, as well as crazy golf, pit-pat, tennis, football, basketball, and an open air swimming pool with fantastic views and feature slide. Table tennis, museums, shops and a supermarket, hairdresser and masseur, are also available in the village. There are wonderful, friendly, traditional bars and restaurants, a bakery, church, town hall, dentist and tourist information office, all in the village. A Traditional cable car to the mountain peak - 2000m is 10 mins walk away from the apartment, and is open summer and winter for hiking/skiing. The Dachstein -Tauern golf course , one of the 4th best courses in Austria, is open to non-members and is within 10 mins walk/2 mins drive of the apartment.

The small but world renowned bustling city of Schladming, home of the national Austrian ski school, is just 5 mins drive away, with its world cup ski run into the village. This converts into a mountain cycling run in the summer, with regular competitions held. White water rafting is on hand for the more adventurous in summer months, as well as a 10 km carting track at Rorhmoos, which converts to a sledge/toboggan run in winter!

There seems to be a traditional festival/celebration most weekends locally in the summer, and 'Grampus' night in Schladming in early December is definitely not to be missed!

Guestbook for Apartment 'Krummholz'

Mr and Mrs K Sharp stayed in the apartment over February half term for skiing, and loved the area, the views and the skiing that they immediately booked to return next year, saying that they have never stayed in such a pristine and modern apartment!

Mrs Gibbs stayed in the apartment in August with her son, and was overwhelmed by the views, the traditional peacefulness of the area, and the vast variety of activities available.

Easter 2009 Guests had never skiied in Austria before, but are 'converted', and will definitely return for the spectacular views, wonderful skiing and friendliness of the locals - the children also really enjoyed sledging, bowling and the open air concerts!
