Snow has already fallen in Schladming and the ski aea is open early with skiing to mid station from the 15th October 2009! Newly built and finished in 2008 the apartment is situated in a great summer and winter location in this popular ski resort. With 2 bedrooms, the property offers modern light and comfortable accommodation just metres from the town centre and Planai ski lift station. Easy walk to lift, restaurants and cafes.
Schladming is popular both as a summer and winter destination in this 4 mountain ski area (200km of connected piste) which will host the world cup ski championships in 2013. In summer the town has street cafes a large outdoor pool, weekly markets and many visitor events. Within 100 metres of the famous January Night Race.

The Styria/Steiermark region
Steiermark is located in the southeast of Austria. In area, it is the second largest of the nine Austrian states. It borders Slovenia as well as the other Austrian states of Upper Austria, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Burgenland, and Carinthia. The capital city is Graz and the area is rich in local history. Italy, Slovenia and Hungary are easily accessible with a 3hr drive by car.
In winter the area is a popular ski area forming part of the largest ski alliance in Europe (Ski Amade with 860 km of slopes on 1 pass). The Dachstein Glacier is the furthest Easterly Glacier in Europe at just 2700 metres (open summer and winter) is just 15km away. Salzburg is the nearest city (90km) and Graz just 2 hours away.
Schladming / Central Schladming area
Schladming is a bustling market town with pavement cafes and lots of restaurants of all kinds. At the base of the Planai the connected 4 mountain ski area is easily accessible from the apartment. Being part of the Ski Amade alliance the area boasts 860 km of piste on 1 lift pass and nearly 46 mountain restaurants in the Schladming area alone.
In summer the area is buzzing with walkers, cyclists, climbers. Lake swimming and horse riding are nearby and for the more adventurous canyoning, rafting and paragliding are popular sports. Just 15 km away the Dachstein Glacier (2700) metres) offers year round snow. Activities in summer include walking, hiking, Nordic walking, mountain biking and cycling, rock climbing, swimming, horseback riding. Winter activities include alpine skiing, cross country skiing, winterwalking, snowshoeing, ski mountaineering, freeskiing, snowboarding, horse sleigh rides Cross country tracks are easily accessible within 5 min.

How to get there
Schladming is approximately 90km (50 minutes drive) from Salzburg airport which is served by several budget airlines (Ryan Air, Thompson, Flybe, British Airways).

Several bus companies run a budget service to Schladming one for as little as 42 Euros return from Salzburg www.reisen-habersatter.at - you can pre-book this for a guaranteed place.
If you intend driving it takes approximately 10 hours from Calais to Schladming. Munich airport - 235km which is 2.5 hours, Linz airport approx 2 hours and Graz airport 2hrs.

Further details indoors: The property has a Superking size bed in the main bedroom with views along the main valley and door leading onto the large balcony. The second bedroom has 2 single beds which can be pushed together to form a double bed.Views from this bedroom to the Dachstein Glacier.
There is also a bed which can be put up in the lounge or main bedroom for an extra child, but ideally the apartment is more suitable for 4 people with possibly one extra child. Large bathroom with excellent walk in shower, and separate bath and heated towel rail.
The apartment has a large wood burning stove which can be used and gives a very cosy effect, on cold winter evenings.
Further details outdoors: Excellent, large sunny terrace with views of the valley, the Dachstein and part of the Planai slope. Basement ski room with plenty of space for skis, boots, bikes etc to be stored safely. Private, allocated, underground car park space, so parking is never a problem.
An easy 5 minute walk to the main village square with plenty of welcoming cafes and restaurants. Excellent selection of Italian, Mexican, Austrian restaurants and apres ski bars. Live music in the pretty square on some summer evenings. Excellent for non skiers who wish to accompany guests.
Mountain bike hire available in the village, and very pleasant, marked river and mountain cycle paths. New toboggan run at Ramsau and ski bus to the Dachstein glacier is included in the ski pass. Indoor/ outdoor swimming pool within 2 minute walking distance. Bodensee lake 5 min drive and Wilde wasser waterfalls-10 minute drive. All easily accessible.

We had a fabulous time in Schladming. The skiing was out of this world as was the town and the apartment it self. We were able to ski from 8:30 every morning until the last lifts in the evening without ever queuing, or having to worry about the last bus. The aparatment is situated in an ideal location, throwing distance from the main lifts, shops, bars and restaurants. In the evenings we sat on the balcony and enjoyed the views of the slopes and surrounding scenery. The apartment is extremely well catered for with a homely wood burner that we used every evening, comfortable sofas and large bedrooms. To be honest it was a lot more luxurious than anywhere we've stayed in before and for that reason we will definatly be going back!! - Hannah Milde, England
