About the home

Chalet Heidi is a large, very comfortable, 3 Star, Tirolean Guesthouse in the farming village of Scheffau. The chalet offers 12 bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities, Balcony, Satellite TV, CD clock radio, Telephone, WiFi and Broadband Internet, and a hair drier.

The chalet has its own bar and dining room, Guests' lounge (with a wood burning fire) and a guests' kitchen (with tea and coffee provided all day) Downstairs, the chalet offers a TV room, Games room (with table tennis, table football, darts and PS2) a Fitness room with a hot tub, and a Sauna room. Also provided is a heated ski room with heated boot racks.

Chalet Heidi is situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac on the edge of a large woodland that extends up into the Wilder Kaiser Mountains. The village centre is 3 minutes on foot from where skiers and borders can take a piste down to the main gondola or take the ski bus (3 minutes on the bus) In the summer, a free bus operates along the valley allowing guests to venture further afield without using their car.

Chalet Heidi is bookable for sole use by larger groups (minimum group size of 20) or on a room by room basis. For large groups a discount may be offered.

Conditions

Our changeover day in the winter is Saturday and holidays generally run Saturday to Saturday only. At quieter times eg January, and in early December, holidays may start on different days and be of varying duration. Please contact us to discuss options.

Summer holidays can start and finish on any day and can be of any duration.

The Austrian Alps / Salzburgerland / Tyrol/Tirol region

Scheffau is nestled at the foot of the mighty Wilder Kaiser Mountains and in the centre of the Kitzbuhler Aples. Scheffau is linked into the resort of SkiWelt - Austria's largest resort - by piste, lift and bus. So in normal conditions skiers and boarders can ski from the village centre to the main godola. In deepest winter guests can ski from the front door of Chalet Heidi !! If snow is lacking, there is a regular shuttle bus from the village to the gondola (takes about 4 minutes!)

In the summer, Scheffau is at the centre of an wonderful mountain holiday region, offering walking, climbing, cycling. mountain biking, sight seeing tours, swimmimg, horse riding, and more.

The Scheffau area

Scheffau is the centre of SkiWelt, Austria's largest lift linked ski resort. yet is also a traditional farming village with character and Tirolean charm. The ski area is vast with 279km of piste suited to absolute beginners throgh to advanced intermediates. Apres ski is found at the foot of gondola, just a short walk from the village centre (or a 4 minute bus ride) The "Village Pub" offers late night apres ski as do the neigbouring villages of Soll and Ellmau.

For non-skiers, Scheffau offers winter walks, sleigh rides, candlelit evening walks, toboganning and several restaurants. The towns of St Johann, Kitzbuhl and Kufstein are just a bus ride away. Salzburg and Innsbruck are only 1 hour away.

In the summer, the local tourist office offer guided walks, sight seeing tours, nordic walking and more. Our chalet provides activity packages, guided walking, mountain bike rental, and a lovely base from which to explore the mountains and local towns.

Numerous airlines, including RyanAir, EasyJet, Jet2, ThomsonFly, FlyBe, MyTravelLite and BA, fly to Salzburg, Innsbruck ( both 1 hour transfer) or Munich (1 1/2 hour transfer) Transfer can be made by bus, train or taxi.

Driving from France (eg Dover-Calais) will take around 10 hours. Driving from Holland (eg Hull Rotterdam) takes around 9 hours. (and is an easy drive!)
