The Austrian Alps region

The Tyrol area of Austria is a stunningly beautiful region which provides an ideal holiday destination all year round. Excellent air, rail and motorway connections provide the perfect base for an active, cultural or simply relaxing break.

Scheffau lies at the heart of the Ski Welt which is Austria's largest interconnected ski area. Lift passes include access to the resorts of Ellmau, Going, Soll and Westendorf. The pass can be extended at extra cost to include the resorts of Kirchberg and Kitzbuel.

In summer the weather is generally warm and sunny providing perfect conditions for walking, cycling, golfing, children's play areas at the tops of the mountains, canoeing, paragliding, whitewater rafting and adventuring (or just relaxing and enjoying the views!).

Scheffau

Scheffau is a charming and traditional village nestling at the foot of the impressive Wilder Kaiser mountains in the heart of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser ski region. It provides the perfect base for skiiers with 250km of piste (180km with snowmaking equipment), more than 90 cable cars and lifts and tyrolean hospitality in over 70 huts and restaurants. There is also plenty of apres ski/nightlife in the neighbouring villages of Soll and Elmau.

For non skiiers Scheffau offers various other activities There is a 10 km cross country track, classic or freestyle, which connects to the neighbouring areas to offer more that 100 km of cross country pleasure, cleared and prepared winter walks, sleigh rides, guided snow shoe walks, natural tobogan runs, music and numerous restaurants, cafes and bars. Shoppers are also well catered for with the traditional market town of St Johann, the fortified town of Kufstein and the exclusive resort of Kitzbuhel a short bus ride away.

In summer whether you are looking for peace and relaxation or a sporting challenge there is a plentiful choice of activities for everyone. The gondolas are open to transport you to the top of the mountains for breathtaking views and there are also themed play areas for children at the top. The "KaiserWelt" in Scheffau is a funpark situated at an altitude of 1650 m. Kids can play in tree cabins and on the climbing and skills apparatus whilst learining about nature. The mountain paths provide well marked and safe tracks for walking, biking or cycle tours with spectacular scenery as a backdrop. Golf is available nearby at one of the most beautiful 27 hole golf courses in the Alps. In addition there are three fantastic water park complexes within easy reach boasting slides, wave machines, volleyball and other activities. Three outdoor tennis courts are available locally (for a small fee).

If that is not enough there other exciting pursuits to try out for example paragliding, white water rafting, canyoning, canoeing and horse riding.

One of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Tyrol is situated on the outskirts of the village. It is the starting point for many walks and mountain climbs and in the summer its crystal clear waters provide a beautiful natural bathing lake.

The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped. The owners are really friendly and very helpful. They send lots of detailed, very useful information before the holiday. The area is very beautiful with lots of walks close by. There are good restaurants within walking distance.

"Beautiful apartments, close to all amenities"

This is our second visit to these beautiful apartments surrounded by stunning scenery. The first time ski-ing in winter which we thoroughly enjoyed so decided to return in summer and were not disappointed.

This time we stayed in the 2 bedroomed apartments on the ground floor which were very spacious and spotlessly clean. They contained everything we needed for an enjoyable stay including a TV and DVD player. We had a front terrace with patio chairs/table and parasol where we enjoyed several lunches overlooking the lovely gardens and outdoor pool, which was very welcome after a day's walk in the mountains.

It is just a short 5 minute walk to the gondola station where we took advantage of the discounted 5 day lift passes which were well worth the money. Stepping out of the gondola was an amazing beach bar serving food, drinks and delicious ice-creams, a great place to chill out and watch the world go by, taking in breathtaking scenery. We were amazed with the abundance of activities for children which has a different theme at the top of the interconnecting resorts of Soll, Going and Ellmau. We enjoyed a lovely lunch one day at a revolving mountain top restaurant in Soll.

We hired bikes another day, following the cycle routes into the delightful town of Scheffau and over into Ellmau. We also visited the village festival in Scheffau which is apparently held every Thursday evening in summer and sampled the local cuisine, definitely worth a visit. There is a beautiful lake not too far away which we walked round and enjoyed lunch outside a lovely restaurant overlooking the lake. Just wish we'd packed out swimming gear! We also tried the local bars and restaurants in the evening which were only a short pleasant walk away and very good value. Most of our meals we ate outside as the weather was very warm and sunny. We also visited the village bakery for our croissants for breakfast.

Suzanne and Howard, the owners, made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. We would highly recommend these apartments in both summer and winter and will definitely be retuning.

"A great ski trip in a lovely location with excellent accommodation and stunning views."

The Appartments Parc are located in a quiet complex of very well appointed units that are very spacious and have all the amenities that you require including underfloor heating well appointed kitchens including dishwasher and open plan lounging dining areas.
Plenty of room to prepare and eat in the apartments although the restaurants are so reasonably priced and the food so good that we ate out most of the time.
It is a short free trolley bus to the ski lift or a 5 minute stroll, at the lifts there is a fantastic ski shop and secure equipment check for overnight storage so your equipment is dry and boots warm for you each morning (for very little cost). Up on the mountain there is terrain to suit every level of skier from the well staffed kids school, the beginners right through to the very advanced and thousands of acres of skiing with highly efficient lift systems connecting all the surrounding areas. The is the added bonus of excellent restaurants and bars on the mountain to punctuate your days skiing and lots of Apres ski bars and restaurants in the local villages to accommodate all tastes.Ellmau is lively and has a great selection of nice restaurants and bars.A taxi is a few Euros and a few minutes drive.Kitzbuhl and St Johann are a short drive away and absolutely worth a visit.
We would highly recommend this accommodation and this area without reservation and are looking forward to our next trip.

"Perfect location - Perfect reception - Perfect holiday. DO NOT MISS OUT!!"

Booking
I have always been a meticulous stickler for planning and Suzanne and Howard catered for my every need from 15 months prior to the actual holiday date!!!! From the initial contact Suzanne was very quick to provide any additional information that I needed regarding accommodation options, local facilities, best airport, ski hire, restaurants and much much more!!!

Reception
Prior to arriving in Scheffau Suzanne had sent an information pack detailing all of the local facilities available for our arrival. Although the accommodation is typically not available to occupy until 4pm Suzanne and Howard were more than accommodating in offering to hold our baggage prior to this time.

Information
The information that both Suzanne and Howard provided via email (before the holiday), in the accommodation in an information pack and verbally when we arrived was perfect. It was the most comprehensive information I have ever received.

Location
The beautiful apartment is approximately 1km from the nearest Gondola station which also happens to be one of the most central stations in the entire ski area. There is a ski bus available which can take you to the gondola stations however we had a hire car which we used to carry the skis to the lifts and airport. Car parking was not an issue at either the accommodation or the gondola station.
The only way I could describe the location of the property is 'beautiful'.
Scheffau is conveniently equidistant between Salzburg and Innsbruck. Typically the flights arrive earlier in Salzburg from Gatwick. This allowed us to arrive early and collect skis and ski passes a day early to maximise our skiing time.

Property
From the outset the accommodation is beautiful. It is a traditional Austrian ski lodge which looks equally warm and inviting in the sun or snow. Suzanne and Howard greeted us warmly and took us into our living room which included a fully functioning kitchen with utensils, television, DVD player and radio. We also had 3 spacious double rooms and a modern bathroom with toilet. Our first impression was that it was very homely and clean just what you need for a perfect holiday.
This accommodation is perfect as are the owners Suzanne and Howard. I would have no hesitation at all in recommending this beautiful place to anyone.

"Great base for skiing holiday in Scheffau"

We stayed here in half-term for our 5th skiing holiday to Scheffau. Property furnished to high standard and has everything you need for relaxed self-catering holiday. English speaking owner is on-site and very welcoming. Definitely recommend to friends & family.
Conveniently located apartment close to gondola station - can walk (15-20 mins) but we used car and bus which stopped outside apartment.
Local "Spa" and petrol station have good choice and village bakery is a real treat. Good selection of restaurants (pre-booking necessary in school hols) including pizza takeaway and reasonably priced fixed price menus.
Outdoor heated swimming pool at Ellmau and taboganning/night skiing at Soll provide evening entertainment. This a great area for summer holidays also with lots of activities to chose from - lake swimming, white water rafting, hill walking, cycling.
Munich airport -cheaper flights and car hire and transfer time not much longer than Innsbruck or Salzberg where flights are more expensive.

"Excellent way to spend new year 2103"

An excellent apartment very well situated with great facilities and a very helpful and friendly owner who had sent us via email a full pre stay pack with everything we needed- directions to and from the airport, full list of restaurants, bars, slopes, lifts, hire shops. They even offered to have food provisions pre ordered which we did and were in our fridge waiting on arrival. We were in a 6 person ground floor apartment which was excellent. We had a great trip with lots of snow made all the better by the very amenable owners Suzanne and Howard who went the extra mile!!! Thanks. We will be booking again next year!!
