Scauri is a famous seaside resort in the Gulf of Gaeta. The coast suddenly rises up to the Aurunci Mountains. The distance of the tops of these mountains to the sea is only 7 kilometres (Mount Petrella 1533 metres). The town is surrounded by green hills with typical Mediterranean plants. You can find a sand beach four kilometres long and small bays. Casa Rita is in the centre of the town in a tranquil private street. The distance from the sea is only 300 metres. In the house there are two nice and well kept apartments. Every apartment has a courtyard with parking. In the courtyard there is a table with chairs where you can relax , eat and enjoy the sun.

The Lazio region
The Gulf of Gaeta is between Rome and Naples in the south of the region of Lazio. A special tip for enthusiasts of italian culture and nature and for those who want to relax, enjoy holidays on the sea and enjoy the italian “dolce vita”. The scenery of the Gulf of Gaeta is various and unique: there is the coastal area, lovely green hills with lemon and olive groves and the typical hilly countryside. Protected from cold winds by the Aurunci Mountains, this area enjoys an extremely mild climate. Also because of this a holiday in the winter months is very pleasant.
Scauri area
On the long sand beach in Scauri you can take umbrellas and make sports like windsurf and kitesurf. Sailing lessons are given on the little beach Spiaggia dei Sassolini. If you like saewatching you can't miss the little protected bay of the WWF in the Natural Parc Riviera di Ulisse.
The natural reserve of the Parco Riviera di Ulisse is inviting for walks. There is an extensive area of archaeological interest in the park in which the remains of the Roman Villa of Mamurra (1st century BC) can be seen. Besides this you can visit the remains of the Roman town Minturnae, which was located on the famous Appian Way (Via Appia).
In the summer often there are live music at the pubs scoglio and mary rock. The Mary Rock is at the beach Spiaggia dei Sassiolini, there you can sit by a drink outside over the sea and the little bay, hearing music in the evening and the sound of the waves during the day. Open air events are also in summer in the roman amphitheatre in Minturno, you can find other events in the town like dancing outside, tasting of local food and in July there is the Sagra delle Regne, an traditional folf festival in in the old centre of Minturno.
How to get there
- by train: train station Formia, from the trainstation you can take a local taxi (20 Euro) a bus to Scauri (0,77 Euro) - train station Scauri-Minturno, than by feed or you can take a local taxi - by car: highway A1 Rome-Naples, exit Cassino. Than you must follow the indications to Formia and Scauri. From the main street Via Appia you must take the little privat street on the left near the shop Sciamano. The last house on the right is Casa Rita. - by airplane: fly to airport Roma Ciampino, Roma Fiumicino or Naples, than follow by train or by car. To Roma Ciampino e Roma Fiumicino you can take low-cost airlines like ryanair, easyjet, airberlin, germanwings...
