Further details outdoors:
Beautiful mature grounds extending to 2.5 acres. Many species of tropical flowers and fruit trees which attract a wide diversity of birds. Pool has internal and external lighting for evening swimming. Secluded but not isolated, you are perfectly placed for visiting all parts of the island. Many visitors staying in the tourist areas in the west of the island rarely get to see more than a day's trip round the island, but from The Ambassadors House at Windy Edge it is a short drive across the hills to the Caribbean coast where there are many beautiful unspoilt beaches and little fishing villages to explore. Our friendly local naturalist will pick guests up from the house and take you birdwatching in the rainforest to see the dancing Mannakins or the brightly coloured Trogon. There are many other activites including scuba diving and snorkelling around Little Tobago, golf at one of the 2 high quality courses on the island, or a boat trip up the coast with swimming, snorkelling and barbecue on the beach.
On the Atlantic coast you can drive up to the far end of the island with spectacular views round every corner, certain beaches on this side are not safe for bathing so take care and follow local advice. For shopping there are several good supermarkets nearby and Scarborough has a wonderfully vibrant market for fruit and vegetables and many other things. From the house you will hear the sound of the Conch shell which the fishermen blow to tell people they have brought in a catch for sale.
There is a wide variety of restaurents all within easy reach of the house, and details of these can be found on our website, www.windyedgetobago.co.uk .

The Tobago region
Tobago is the unspoiled gem of the Caribbean. Set close to Venezuela it is well below the hurricane belt and shares many of the flora and fauna of South America. It contains a very old rain forest reserve which was preserved in the 18th Century to ensure adequate rain supplies for the plantations.
The whole island has a good rainfall which ensures that it remains green and fertile with wonderful tropical plants and flowers. People are friendly and the beaches are easily accessible with safe bathing in warm waters.
The Scarborough/Concordia area
The area known as Concordia used to be a large cocoa estate in the old plantation days. Now it is a pleasant residential area in the hills about ten minutes from the nearest beach, Little Bacolet Bay. Ambassador's House lies up a drive just off the road across the island to the northern Caribbean coast, where you will find many beautiful beaches, some with small bars, some by a small fishing village. The main town of Tobago, Scarborough is down the hill about a 10-minute drive away. It has a vibrant market and banks, pharmacies, supermarket and post office.
A variety of activities and trips are available; rain forest hikes, birdwatching, deep-sea fishing, scuba-diving, snorkeling, sailing, golf and swimming.
Restaurents are located all over the island and very accessible from the house, the nearest are the 'Salsa Kitchen' or 'Ciao', both in Scarborough. Phone numbers are in the phone book at the house.
The dry season extends from December to June and rainy season June to December. However there is much sun at all times and usually some rain at night during the dry season. Temperature variations between approx. 28 - 38 C.

Guestbook for Ambassadors House, Windy Edge
My party of four could not have been happier with our stay in ambassador's House. We wanted to stay somewhere real not a purpose built holiday rental and this home was perfect! The layout of the house while open plan and sociable still offered the option for privacy. The Gardens, the pool. the views and the bird song - we felt we were in paradise!.
On the practical side every implement you could need in the kitchen is provided including cooking basics washing powder etc (not a holiday norm)Lesley ann the beautiful housekeeper is a daily advantage too, any requests were dealt with speedily. Both the house and gardens are maintained to a very high standard and I could not if I tried find any fault with this holiday home rental.
