Home description
Windy Edge was designed and built by a former US ambassador to Japan and it is still known on the island as the Ambassador's House. Set on the top of Cinnamon Hill, it has sensational views over the Caribbean and Atlantic seas and catches the cooling breezes, unlike many coastal properties. It is a large well-designed home with high ceilings and ceiling fans, all the windows have adjustable louvred slats for security and are netted against insects. There are four main bedrooms plus one smaller bedroom for extra guests or staff use. 3 bedroms have en suite facilities 2 bedrooms share a bathroom. A wide veranda surrounds the house with dining area, comfortable seating areas, and table tennis. It stands in 2.5 acres of grounds with many tropical fruit trees for guests to enjoy and a good-sized pool (16'x32') which is serviced 3 times a week. 6-day maid service with cooking if required.

The Tobago region
Tobago is the unspoilt gem of the Caribbean. Set close to Venezuela it is well below the hurricane belt and shares many of the flora and fauna of South America. It contains a very old rain forest reserve which was preserved in the 18th Century to ensure adequate rain supplies for the plantations. The whole island has a good rainfall which ensures that it remains green and fertile with wonderful tropical plants and flowers. People are friendly and the beaches are easily accessible with safe bathing in warm waters.
Scarborough/Concordia area
Several beaches, some with small bars. Scarborough has a vibrant market and banks, pharmacies, supermarket and post office. Rain forest hikes, deep-sea fishing, scuba-diving, snorkelling, sailing.
The dry season extends from December to June and rainy season June to December. However there is much sun at all times and usually some rain at night during the dry season. Temperature variations between approx. 28 - 38 C
How to get there
Excel, Virgin Atlantic, BA, also flights from Germany, The Netherlands and the USA . Car hire can be arranged for you by the owner. Regular ferries cross by sea or air from Trinidad.

Accommodation is spacious throughout the house, with high ceilings and access to the wide veranda from all rooms via sliding doors. Dining room and sitting room both have ceiling fans and plenty of comfortable chairs. All meals can be taken on the veranda which is well equipped with comfortable seating. Extensive library of books and collection of board games. Table tennis on the veranda. Internet access can be arranged easily via the TSTT main office in Scarborough. Kitchen is well equipped with plenty of fridge and freezer space plus dishwasher, and our maid will cook for guests as required. Sheets and towels are changed twice a week, towels more frequently if requested. Washing machine available.
Further details outdoors: Beautiful mature grounds extending to 2.5 acres. Many species of tropical flowers and fruit trees which attract a wide diversity of birds. Pool has internal and external lighting for evening swimming. Secluded but not isolated, you are perfectly placed for visiting all parts of the island. Many visitors staying in the tourist areas in the west of the island rarely get to see more than a day's trip round the island, but from Windy Edge it is a short drive across the hills to the Caribbean coast where there are many beautiful beaches and little villages to explore. On the Atlantic coast you can drive up to the far end of the island with spectacular views round every corner, certain beaches on this side are not safe for bathing so take care and follow local advice. For shopping there are several good supermarkets nearby and Scarborough has a wonderfully vibrant market for fruit and vegetables and many other things. From the house you will hear the sound of the Conch shell which the fishermen blow to tell people they have brought in a catch for sale.
