A semi-detached cottage, it offers sleeping accommodation for groups of up to five people and has been refurbished and redecorated to a high standard throughout. Dual-aspect windows offer beautiful views of the village, whilst the rest of the property is similarly bright and airy. The Northern England / Yorkshire/Yorkshire Dales region
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline. A haven for walkers, the area also boasts great cycling, gliding, riding and fishing, whilst North York Moors Railway is the perfect way to enjoy the beautiful scenery in a more relaxed setting.
Visit the market towns of Pickering or Thirsk; the latter famous for its links with the English country vet and author, James Herriot. Nearby, some of Yorkshire’s best-loved villages including Thornton-le-Dale and Rosedale Abbey offer a taste of village life, as does Goathland, ‘Aidensfield’ in the TV series ‘Heartbeat’. Finally, stop off at Castle Howard and Duncombe Park, two of Britain’s most historic stately homes situated in breathtaking parklands and gardens.
The cliffs, sandy beaches and smugglers’ caves of the Yorkshire coastline are a haven for beachcombers and coastal walkers. Discover the quaint fishing villages of Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, with their brightly coloured fishing boats. Finally, there’s the historic city of York, with its interactive Viking Centre, Roman walls, medieval streets, vibrant shops and gothic York Minster cathedral.
The Scarborough, Yorkshire / Staxton area
Staxton is a small village in North Yorkshire, immortalised by Sir Alan Ayckbourne in his play, ‘The Revengers’ Comedies’. Situated on the rise from Lake Pickering, Staxton has been used by man since prehistoric times. Recent excavations at Heslerton have shown that an extensive network of farms, tracks and important buildings were built along the foot of the wolds dating from prehistoric right up to Roman times. Evidence of the Romans and the Viking invaders who colonised this region can be found in the historic city of York. The Jorvik Viking Centre makes for a great day out and York itself has plenty to see and do, including the Minster and the smallest street in the UK.

Guestbook for 1479 - May Brow
Was a perfect home from home, everywhere was spotless and the location was fantastic. The hosts provided a high chair to use which looked brand new. It was reassuring as a parent of a small child to feel everything was in such good order and clean!
