Spectacular Mediterranean View
This spectacular 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom 800+ sq ft. new white tiled apartment overlooks the stunning Mediterranean Sea. With a balcony large enough for a small party, one can look straight out over the town, past the Byzantine era fortress and onto the azure water. If you look right, you will see the medieval "Old Town," and to your left are the mountains and the coast as far as the eye can see. The town of Scalea itself is full of friendly people, great food and reasonable prices. Pompeii is 2 hours to the north (you can take the train or drive) and the island of Sicily is to the south. I

The Southern Italy / Calabria region
Scalea is a beautiful town located on the beach and situated between the equally gorgeous towns of San Nicola and Diamante. Medieval villages are nestled up in the mountains to the north and the south and one can walk the beaches, take the train, or drive in and out of Scalea, which is always warm and sunny.

The "Old Town" is medieval and is a fun walk. On your way to the top, you can stop to eat and drink
At the top of the Old Town is a museum which boasts ancient artifacts found in the area
The Byzantine fortress is on the beach and open to visitors
La Playa is a restaurant with the best spaghetti and clams you'll ever eat!
Deja Vu is a fun bar
Sicily is to the south
Pompei and Naples are 2 hours to the north
How to get there
Flights are non-stop from London to either Rome, Naples or Lamezia, although to get to Lamezia, you would need to fly from Stansted. Trains from Rome or Naples leave for Scalea regularly. There are a variety of rental car options from any airport.
