The property is an easy day's drive from the channel ports and a comfortable three and a half hour drive from Paris. The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Deux Sevres region
The local market town of Sauzé Vaussais is only a 5 minute drive away. There are two supermarkets, a boulangerie, tabac and other shops in the town. Every Thursday morning there is a traditional market where you can buy fresh locally grown produce. For more shopping choices you could go to Ruffec or Poitiers.

Valley of Monkeys: about 20 minutes drive to a wonderful world of monkeys that children and adults will enjoy. The monkeys all roam free as you walk through the different areas. Try to be there for feeding time. There is also a farm nursery with goats, sheep, chickens, guinea pigs and rabbits to pet.
Châteaux de la Loire: Many spectacular Châteaux of the Loire Valley and picturesque towns along the river such as Amboise and Tours lie within an easy 90 minutes drive. Take a picnic lunch, experience the day and be back at Villaret for your evening.
Futuroscope: Theme Park of the Moving Image. Approximately 40 minutes drive. Not a theme park with rides but an exciting day for the family. Voyages of discovery, imagination and emotion all in one place. Stay into the evening and enjoy the fountains “dancing” to a sound and light spectacle.
Poitiers: The regional capital, Poitiers is full of architectural and historical interest, with its cathedral, museums and churches.
Angoulême: approximately 40 minutes to the South East. An historical city, it hosts many and varied festivals through the year, including classic car racing through the city, the international festival of comics and a gastronomic festival.

Further details indoors: Les Chênes is a French farmhouse, dating from the 1880s, which has been extensively modernised and designed to provide 2 interconnecting holiday cottages: Holly Oak House (3 bedrooms) and Oak Apple Cottage (two bedrooms). The properties may be rented separately or together (ideal for when you are holidaying with friends and still want to have your own space). Both cottages are bright and spacious, furnished to a high standard and provide you with large kitchen/dining area, lounge, bathrooms and bedrooms.
Further details outdoors: Inground swimming pool (8m x 4m x 1.4 m). Around the pool there are sun loungers and chairs for your relaxation. There are also a swing and slide for the younger children to enjoy.
Each property has its own garden table, chairs, umbrella and barbeque and plenty of books, magazines, videos/DVDs.
