Home description
THE COTTAGE, 'Annie's House'
Private and independent ‘Annie’s House’ is a delightful 'maison d’amie’ nesting in the grounds of ‘La Bellevue’, our French/Anglo family home set in the picturesque wine producing village of Pouançay - an idyllic retreat for a couple seeking a secluded spot yet wish to remain centrally located to the Loire Châteaux.
Equipped to a high standard and with all original features preserved, the exposed tuffeau stone walls, wooden ceiling beams and warm terracotta floors tiles of our ‘petite maison’ ooze the rustic charm one visualizes when imagining France.
Close to local amenities, daily markets, weekend Brocantes (flea-markets) and the stunning riverside villages, ‘Annie’s House’ is ideally positioned for exploring the many Châteaux and historical towns of the Loire Valley - Angers, Azay le Rideau, Bréze, Candes St. Martin, Chinon, Fontevraud l’Abbaye, Montsoreau, Montreuil-Bellay, Saumur, Richelieu and Tours – to name but a few !
Cycle routes and foot paths are plentiful in the surrounding vineyards and un-spoilt countryside and for those wanting more activities, riverside beaches, water sports, canoeing and kayaking are a moments drive away and for an aerial view micro-light and hot air balloon flights can be arranged.
HISTORY of the 'FAMILY BEAUMONT' : Welcome to the family home of Sarah-Jane & Gérald Beaumont.
The family Beaumont for more than two centuries have been well established in the Loire Valley, not only as wine producers but also held the position of Mayor, Brissac-Quincé.
Henri & Jeanne Beaumont, Géralds grandparents, brought Gérald up on their vineyard in Brissac which is now recognized as the appellation of AOC Anjou Village Brissac.
Having owned a highly referenced cave à vin/bar à vin in Paris (referenced in the Top 10 cave à vins by l’Express magazine, Paris’s answer to London’s Time Out), it was Géralds wish to return to his roots in the Loire Valley where he now manages a highly reputed Domaine.
The family Beaumont will offer you the posibility to go back to their roots and introduce you to the vine growers of their own appellation.

The Loire Valley / Maine-et-Loire region
The word 'château' belongs to the Loire Valley, its very mention inspires images of grand extravagant castles, exquisite gardens and vast moats. It encapsulates the intrigue of French history and a romantic vision of France.
From the 15th to the 18th centuries the Loire was the playground of Kings, Princes, Dukes and Nobles their family fortunes and the wealth of France turned it into a vast neighbourhood of lavish châteaux. Rich and concentrated in architectural treasures Unesco named the entire region a World Heritage Site in 2000.
The Renaissance architecture and earlier defensive fortresses glimpsed at Angers, Chinon and Loche are stunning and numerous other châteaux big and small can be found throughout the Loire.
Saumur / Montreuil Bellay area
SAUMUR :- twined with Warwick, England and Verden, Germany the town of Saumur is also home to the famous Cadre Noir, the National Equestrian School of the elite French Cavalry and can be seen between April & October.
With many activities, exhibitions and wine festivals scheduled throughout the year Saumur is a worthy visit, if not only to see the Cadre Noir and the impressive château, which has been lovingly restored, but to also enjoy the beauty of this stunning river side town in the heart of the Loire Valley, France.
MONTREUIL-BELLAY :- is a pretty medieval town and an abundance of blooms from spring to autumn. The magnificant fairytale château dominates this quaint village and a must-see when passing through.

Guestbook for 'Annie's House'
WEEKEND WINE DISCOVERY - Just FANTASTIC ! The WWD was everything we were looking forward to, very friendly vineyards, a great selection of wines and extremely interesting to sample the difference in the wine appellations. Gérald & Sarah-Jane were fantastic and looked after us as part of the family. We will be encouraging our friends to come along next time. Helen & Steve, Warwick - November '09 (stayed in July '09)
Loved 'Annie's House' !! Can't wait to come back and stay again! Very friendly hosts Sarah-Jane & Gérald, made us feel welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Loved the wine tour and the wine is GREAT !! Alison & Kelvin, Wrexham - October '09
A genuinely warm family welcome. Annie's House is a delightful surprise and so obviously well-loved by the owners. This is apparent by the comfort, layout & personal touches such as the old balck & white photographs of past vignerons. The bed is lovely & comfortable!! Thank you so much. Julie & Derrick Arnold, Lincolnshire - September '09
Everything was PERFECT. Our stay with Sarah-Jane & Gérald was an absolute highlight. Their warmth, generosity and friendship provided us with a more complete French experience in this beautiful wine region. Gérald educated us in the art of wine making and his dégustation at La Paleine was an occassion to remember. The wines were superb, Annie's House was spotless & well appointed, set in the serene setting of Pouançay. We will return ! Ros & Peter Buck, Perth Australia - September '09
Absolutely wonderful place. Nothing negative to say and Klaus says it is the nicest place he has stayed in the last 20 years ! Perfect. Friendly but never intrusive. Thank you, we have had a wonderful time. Klaus & Michael, Germany - August '09
So welcoming, we felt like part of the family! A lovely week, it was home from home and in a beautiful area. The wine tour with Gérald was excellent, we learnt more about wine during our visit than in the last 30 years visiting France. Thank you for a wonderful holiday. Rose & Jeff, Derbyshire - July '09
Thank you for an amazing week ! The hospitality has been out of this world. Beautiful surroundings, great advise for days out & fantastic wine. What more can we ask for ? Really hope to be back soon. Helen & Steve, Warwick - July '09
Sarah-Jane & Gérald extended the warmest of welcomes to Annie's House. A beautifully renovated & furnished cottage in a peaceful village. An ideal base from which to tour the Loire and learn about its wines. Highly recommended. We look forward to returning ! Karen & Matthew Sparkhall-Brown, South Africa - June '09
A true 'French Experience'. Our second year and not the last! Wonderful wine, terrific food and fantastic company. Wish we could stay longer but not sure our livers can take it! We will be back and all our friends will be notified. Sad to be leaving. Mark Plummer & Jeremy Harold, England - June '09
