The Cottage, La Coyere
About the home
Originally a farmworkers cottage, now refurbished to a high standard. Enter through a stable door into the kitchen/diner, with a woodburner stove set in the original stone fireplace. Solid oak kitchen units, dresser and dining room table with leather chairs lends a touch of luxury to the well equipped kitchen. Next door is the living room with stairs up to the stunning king size bedroom with cathedral vaulted ceiling. The twin bedroom leads off the living room and the bathroom is off the kitchen/diner.
A 5 minute drive takes you to our local market town of Noyant, with excellent amenities. Saumur, a lively town on the banks of the Loire is less than half an hour away, offering boutique style shops, a large Saturday market and many bars, restaurants and a grand Chateau. This part of the Loire Valley has much to offer for everyone, probably best known for its wine production, Chateaux and golf. Book a Wine tasting tour with us to explore some exceptional vineyards in the area and taste their wines without the worry of drinking and driving.

The Loire Valley / Maine-et-Loire region
Often called the 'Garden of France' for its temperate climate, the Loire Valley is an enchanted land of vineyards, sunflowers and rolling green hills, dotted with more than a thousand Chateaux. In 2000, UNESCO added the central part of the Loire Valley to its prestigious list of World Heritage sites.
The Saumur area
Home to the Cadre Noir, known for its annual horse shows. There is a tank museum, the Musée des Blindes, with more than 850 armoured vehicles. High above the town, the 14th century Chateau houses the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, an impressive collection of European china and the Musée du Cheval, progressing through the evolution of bridles and stirrups to an amazing and diverse saddlery collection. Also visit the troglodyte dwellings carved out of the cliffs, the Musée de Champignons, underground caves used to grow 70% of France’s mushrooms and enjoy a guided tour of the sparkling wine tuffeau caves, taste the local wines and buy direct. Le Mans, Tours, Angers and Poitiers are all within a reasonable drive, offering a wealth of attractions and things to do.

The cottage was very clean and tidy and well equiped. The beds were very comfortable and the hosts (Claire and John) were very helpful and friendly.
Meals can be booked for day of arrival and on request and Claires cooking was fabulous! We enjoyed the meal with Claire and John and the other guests staying at the adjoining gite.
We had a great relaxing week, just what the doctor ordered! :)

Our second trip to Le Coyere after a wonderful two weeks last year. This time my parents came along and stayed in the Gite next door. While the weather wasn't brilliant (by high French standards), the holiday was otherwise everything we had hoped for.
The accomodation is first class with everything you need. The location is very central for wine, historic, leisure and just fun trips out for the family. Walking is very easy from Le Coyere. The owners Claire and John are suitably attentive but also sensitive to a desire for privacy. And Jack (the resident cocker spaniel) is just a wonderful addition; he's quiet, well behaved and a true character.
