About the home

Les Plantous is a pretty two bedroom self-catering apartment in a large garden, peaceful surroundings, private pool and terrace. Adjacent to the main house but completely independent. The apartment has a private entrance via an intimate, shaded terraced area. The terrace has seating, perfect for croissant and coffee in the morning or a chilled glass of wine after a days exploration. Inside, the light and airy kitchen/dining/lounge has wonderful garden views and is fully equipped, with dining table, ample seating, coffee table, TV and DVD/CD player. The comfortable double bedroom over looks the garden/surrounding countryside, it has wardrobe space and is adjacent to the bathroom with shower. The second bedroom which can be either 2 singles or a double, leading out onto the shaded terrace.
Nestled among the trees in the garden you'll be able to take a dip in the private timber decked swimming pool and cook up some of the local market produce on your own BBQ.

For a little extra entertainment we have a selection of books and games etc. Sunlounges are in the pool area There is a barbecue area also, with large table and seating to relax after a busy day. A jacuzzi spa is available as an optional extra, for a daily or weekly charge

We are Australian,so no problems with English and we speak a little French.

We and our 2 small friendly dogs will welcome you on arrival, with a complimentary bottle of wine and cheese plate.

Conditions

Security deposit of 300 Euro is held on arrival and returned 4 days after departure after property has been checked.

The rental rates include bed linen, towels and electricity plus a weekly clean if staying for more than 1 week.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region

Perigord Noir known as (place of a thousand chateaux ) Steeped in history .Les Eyzies., prehistoric rock dwellings are a wonder not to be missed, as is St Christophe, Domme with its connections with the Knights Templar!!
Beynac Chateau former home of Richard The Lionheart and Castlenaud are very close also La Roque Gaceac on the banks of the Dordorgne River.

The Sarlat / Cenac et St Julien area

We are just 3 minutes drive from Cenac (bars,restaurants supermarkt) including Tuesday Market day. We are also on a popular walking route 5 minutes to the ancient village of St Julien(11th Century) and 8 min from Dordogne River. The immediate area is abundant with action and sightseeing, Canoeing, and very popular Ballooning. While the beautiful medieval town of Sarlat with its all-year round market is just 12 klm. away. Not to mention the majestic Chateaux bursting out of the hillside and ancient cave dwellings to explore.

Adventure Park (all ages) 15mins drive. Domme has a Monday evening market with street entertainment, as does Sarlat on both Wednesdays and Saturdays.

There are numerous festivals, fairs during the summer months, details of these are available.

“The perfect place for your holiday in the Dordorgne” We had a thoroughly wonderful week with our 2 children in Les Plantous and the surrounding area. After a warm welcome from Bob and Diane and seeing the elegantly furnished accommodation, it wasn't long before we were enjoying our private pool. The house was ideally located for exploring the most picturesque section of the river - Roque Gageac, Castelnaud and Beynac - best seen from a canoe. Even the short drive from the local village brought us through wonderful walnut groves and past the local church with acoustics that have to be tried to be believed! We enjoyed eating al fresco by the pool, on our terrace, in the local Thai restaurant and also in the nearby village of Domme with spectacular views over the valley. Apart from the perfect location, it is the little but important things that made this accommodation stand out from others - a mountain of towels, hand soap, washing up liquid, washing powder was all provided; there were (appropriately colour coded!) woggles for the children in the pool; wine and cheese waited for us on arrival; invaluable advice on avoiding tourist traffic on market day and where to find quiet swimming spots; and of course their wonderful little dogs Bailey and Susie that kept our children busy for hours. We have been recommending Les Plantous to all who will listen, and hope to return there again soon to enjoy this wonderful part of the world.

“Great stay in lovely area” We had a lovely stay at Les Plantous and the accommodation was in excellent order and the situation was superb: only ten minutes or so from Domme and also close to Sarlat, while being quiet and peaceful. We didn't really use the pool and barbecue enough, but both were really appreciated and would have been great had we experienced really hot weather. The area is lovely, there's plenty to do - canoeing down the Dordogne was a particularly enjoyable day - and Bob and Diane, who were just next door, couldn't have made us more welcome. “What a holiday should be!” Could not have chosen a more perfect place for a holiday. The appartment was one of the best we have stayed in, set in wonderfully tranquil area. The owners, Diane and Bob went 'over and above' during our stay to help us. The location was idyllic, so close to fantastic sights, would recommend this appartment totally and would love to return!

“Delightful, peaceful, comfortable, bright and spotless” We had a bad experience at a previous gite and left after two days desperate to find alternative accommodation. We found it!! Beautiful little apartment in the grounds of a large home. Everything you need is to hand, extremely comfortable beds with a choice of two double rooms or a double and a twin room. Extremely well presented by very house proud owners. Private outdoor area and pool for guests. Property is in a beautiful location and perfectly situated for easy access to sites in the Dordogne and the Lot. We definitely recommend this accommodation and its owners to all those looking for quality accommodation in the region.

“Lovely accommodation” Les Plantous is located in a peaceful setting just outside Cenac. The property comfortably accommodates four people. It has a beautiful garden and pool / barbecue area. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
