"Excellent accommodation and location"

We have just returned from a wonderful 12 night stay at Les Plantous. The gite is without doubt one of the best rentals we have experienced in France, with Bob and Diane the most welcoming and friendl… More

"Wonderful hosts Bob and Di made our stay in this beautiful area one of our most memorable holidays."

We are two couples in their sixties and we chose Les Plantous because of it's great location in the Dordogne, so close to Sarlat-la-Caneda and all the other "must see" sites in this region. We had problems with our on line flight check ins as well as downloading postal voting papers for our National Elections, but Bob and Di went the extra mile to help us out, and this made our stay just perfect. Their knowledge of the area and their suggestions of places to visit were so helpful - especially the trip to Aradour sur Glane which we had not known about, but which was so memorable. The location, our fabulous hosts, and the amazing weather for our two weeks made for a really enjoyable holiday.

"A little slice of heaven..."

I am really sorry to read the previous review and can only counteract that by saying that on the monetary side Diane & Bob couldn't have been more accommodating. Everything went through smoothl… More

Thank you so much for your kind comments, I must say that it gives us both great pleasure, when guests appreciate this wonderful part of the country as we clearly do.
Even though the weather could have been a little better, (especially for this time of year) you explored everywhere with such gusto, and wrote some of the places in our guest book for future guests, which the family who followed you were very pleased with.
We would be very happy if you were to choose Les Plantous again.
Thank you once again Bob and Diane

"Bad feelings at the end of a 10 day stay"

The setting is very nice and the location is within driving distance of many Dordogne sights. Our lovely vacation in this area was somewhat marred by the owners' irregular payment method; asking … More

In reply to your comments i must say that in 7 years we have never had any problems with our payment methods before. At no time were you asked to pay our bank charges. As for the so called double inspection, the property was quickly inspected when you left at 5.30am to catch your plane as a favour to you.If you had read your contract it clearly states that the deposit is returned to you within one week of vacating, but we helped you again .What a pity that you couldnt be bothered to pay us the courtesy of removing your garbage.SELF CATERING means that you should leave it as you found it.

"Excellent accommodation in perfect location for the Perigord Noir region."

We had a most excellent fortnight at Les Plantous, the accommodation actually exceeded our expectations, the pool and BBQ area were closer than we thought they would be which for us was brilliant as we love to BBQ and swim. The accommodation was beautifully presented, the hosts were so welcoming and friendly and were able to gve us lots of tips for going out and about with their local knowledge (recommending Canoe companies, advising on places to visit etc). We unreservedly reccommend Les Plantous and hope that one day we will return.

It makes it all worth while for us when we have guests who embrace and explore this lovely area that we call home.

"The perfect place for your holiday in the Dordorgne"

We had a thoroughly wonderful week with our 2 children in Les Plantous and the surrounding area. After a warm welcome from Bob and Diane and seeing the elegantly furnished accommodation, it wasn't long before we were enjoying our private pool. The house was ideally located for exploring the most picturesque section of the river - Roque Gageac, Castelnaud and Beynac - best seen from a canoe. Even the short drive from the local village brought us through wonderful walnut groves and past the local church with acoustics that have to be tried to be believed! We enjoyed eating al fresco by the pool, on our terrace, in the local Thai restaurant and also in the nearby village of Domme with spectacular views over the valley. Apart from the perfect location, it is the little but important things that made this accommodation stand out from others - a mountain of towels, hand soap, washing up liquid, washing powder was all provided; there were (appropriately colour coded!) woggles for the children in the pool; wine and cheese waited for us on arrival; invaluable advice on avoiding tourist traffic on market day and where to find quiet swimming spots; and of course their wonderful little dogs Bailey and Susie that kept our children busy for hours. We have been recommending Les Plantous to all who will listen, and hope to return there again soon to enjoy this wonderful part of the world.

"Great stay in lovely area"

We had a lovely stay at Les Plantous and the accommodation was in excellent order and the situation was superb: only ten minutes or so from Domme and also close to Sarlat, while being quiet and peaceful. We didn't really use the pool and barbecue enough, but both were really appreciated and would have been great had we experienced really hot weather. The area is lovely, there's plenty to do - canoeing down the Dordogne was a particularly enjoyable day - and Bob and Diane, who were just next door, couldn't have made us more welcome. Thoroughly recommended!

"What a holiday should be!"

Could not have chosen a more perfect place for a holiday. The appartment was one of the best we have stayed in, set in wonderfully tranquil area. The owners, Diane and Bob went 'over and above' during our stay to help us. The location was idyllic, so close to fantastic sights, would recommend this appartment totally and would love to return!
