Where beauty, history and medieval architecture meet in one place. This idyllic apartment is located in the prime position, inside the city walls of Sarlat. It is France at its enchanting best.
The apartment is located on the first floor of a building dating back to the 14th century in a very quiet street on the corners of the Rue Fénelon and the Rue du Présidial. Whilst being in the heart of the historical centre, it is just a few steps away from the hustle and bustle of the main square.
A charming balcony provides the ideal viewing platform of the mediaeval streets below. Enjoy a French coffee and croissant, lunch, dinner, or perhaps a lazy afternoon with a good book and a glass of wine or champagne.
This apartment features a living, dining, and kitchen area. Exposed honey coloured stone and natural timbers highlight the apartment to create a warm and traditional atmosphere. Sarlat area
Sarlat has a special ambiance, gentility, and history. Once you are touched by this village, it is hard to leave, and impossible not to return again and again.
Colourful markets cover the village square on Wednesday and Saturdays and are considered amongst the most spectacular in France.
Sarlat is also one of France’s finest and most picturesque examples of a restored medieval village, not only by day, but also by night when this charming village is lit with a myriad of gas laterns. Marvel at the Gothic and Renaissance townhouses as you meander through the village lanes and town square.
Michelin Green Guide awards 3 stars of recognition to Sarlat due to its compelling ambiance and aesthetics.
Sarlat has arguably more listed buildings than any other town in Europe and dates back to the middle ages.
The area is the home of prehistoric man, idyllic valleys, Dordogne river, patchwork quilt fields, gastronomic foods of such as foie gras, truffles, asparagus, prunes, walnuts, mushrooms, canard. You can buy and prepare the local produce from the markets, or visit one of the many restaurants to sample these mouthwatering specialities. Restaurant prices are very reasonable, so dining out is an everyday option.
The attractions of this area are both spectacular and amazing. The immediate area is said to have 1001 castles dating from the 12th century, many of which are open to the public. Do not miss Beynac, Castlenaud, Hautefort, Fenelon, Les Milandes to name a few.
Also enjoy a relaxing afternoon and stroll through the magnificent gardens of Marqueyssac and Hautefort or visit the nearby village of Domme and Rocamadour.
A visit to the National Museum of Prehistory, and the caves of Lascaux, Proumeyssac, Rouffignac, and Lacave.
It is also possible to visit the nearby famous wine growing areas of Bordeaux, St Emillion, Bergerac, and Monbazillac.
