A period stone town house with a private pool, off road parking, 3 bedrooms sleeping 5/6 guests, 2 bath/shower rooms & an additional ground floor cloakroom, located in the stunning 'must see' Medieval town of Sarlat.
Sarlat is a small town of exceptional beauty with it's narrow winding streets, stone roofs & Benedictine Abbey; you will be mesmerised by over 1000 years of art & architecture at every turn. From your Sarlat holiday home with it's private mature garden, sun terraces & pool you really can stroll to the gourmet restaurants in Sarlat without a hill climb in site, most of them are within a genuine 10 minute walk of the house! There is a lovely boulangerie for your morning croissants and baguettes, with a lovely little deli next door to the boulangerie just a short 3 minute stroll away from the house. You can visit the colourful Farmers Market & food hall, or indulge in French Cafe Culture & watch the world pass by. Sarlat has several free attractions all year around including a Christmas market and outdoor ice rink for the festive period & during the summer months especially there are street performers, fireworks, acrobats, musicians, clowns & art exhibitions.
After a day spent messing about on the river, or visiting caves & chateaux, why not just sit on the terrace with a glass of wine & watch the locals play Petanque, or even have a go yourself, they are a set of Boules in the house for your use.

This is your perfect vacation rental home, centrally located, yet tranquil & spacious enough for all your needs. A period stone town house with 3 bedrooms, 2 bath/shower rooms & an additional ground floor cloakroom, located in the stunning 'must see' Medieval town of Sarlat.
On the ground floor level is a fully fitted kitchen diner with a door leading out to a covered terrace for al fresco dining, off the entrance hallway is a toilet and a comfortable living room with two sofas, dual aspect windows, English TV and early 19th century features. The kitchen comprises of a dishwasher, oven, gas hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee percolator, kettle, all the cooking utensils, pots. pans, plates and cutlery that you require.
The next floor up has a bedroom with a comfortable King bed of 160cm, this room also has an ensuite shower room. Across the hall from this room is a lovely twin bedroom with a dual aspect.
The next level up has a single sized room and a family bathroom. However, the bed in this room is able to convert to a comfortable King sized bed of 160cm also. Please note that this room has a reduced height doorway of 5 feet due to a low celiing beam at that point.
All the beds will be made up for your arrival with white cotton bed sheets & feather duvets, but please advise in advance if you would like the single bedroom made up as a single or a double room. A change of bed linens & towels is provided each week for longer stays. The twin beds in bedroom 2 can be placed together for those who wish to make a larger 180 cm double bed.
Please note that although this house will sleep 6 guests comfortably we do feel that the living room does not have the space for 6 adults. However, we do have another very similar, but larger, house in central Sarlat which also has 3 bedrooms and 3 ensuites, so do enquire as we may have availability in that house if you need a larger house or if this one is booked for your dates.
Further details outdoors:
The private garden has several mature trees and shrubs & a small lawned area. There are loverly flowering Mock Orange trees which arch over the gravel path leading up to the house, a beautiful rambling wisteria leads from the house to the pool area. We have comfortable sun loungers on the decking area by the pool, with a large sun shade if required. There is a charcoal BBQ & an outside dining table for six which can be either on the shaded terrace or moved into the sun as you wish.
If you follow the path past the pool and garden you will come to the private off road parking area for two cars which is located behind the house.
There is also a lockable shed for those who wish to bring their bikes, although the local bike hire company will deliver bikes to the door, providing you with all the necessary equipment needed, maps included, and collect them at the end of your stay.
To the front of the property there is ample off road free parking for several cars.

SHORT STAYS AVAILABLE -
From November until the end of February it is possible to take a short break in this house for 99 euros per night (min. 3 night stay 4 person rate additional guests 25 euros pr night).
If your chosen dates are not available please enquire as we do have another very similar property in Sarlat which may be free for that week.
Please ask about the availability of the cot and highchair at reservation, as it may have been booked already.
Conditions
1. 30% total rental deposit will be payable to confirm booking, the balance is due at the latest 8 wks prior to arrival
2. A damage deposit equivalent of 300 euros in your own currency paid by cheque is required, this will be shredded within 2 wks of departure or repaid (less any costs for breakages or extra cleaning)
4.Cancellations: Up to 120 days before rental start date–deposit refunded less an admin fee of 75 euros & any bank or Paypal fees incurred. 119-0 days prior to stay a refund will be given if we are able to re-let less any re-advertising costs, admin & or promotional offers. It will usually be possible to relet given sufficient notice time
5.Change-over day is Friday, arriving 16.00hrs departing 10.00hrs
6.Electricity is included up to 60 kw per week & charged at 15 cents per kw there after
7.We hope that you have enjoyed your stay in our home, so please leave it as you would expect to find it. We can provide a cleaning service for 40 euros.
8.In respect of our other guests, well behaved dogs are accepted provided they do not sleep on the sofas or beds, at the rate of 30 euros per week.
9.Short stays of 3 nights are available from mid November to mid March.

Terrific location for exploring on foot in a beautiful town with lots of good restaurants and a great market on Saturdays. Good spot for day trips of the Dordogne area by car. House was delightful--too cold to use the pool or outdoor areas while we were there but that would have been an added plus.

I stayed at Sarlat la Canada for 4 nights in March 2010. The house exceeded our expectations in every way. Charmingly decorated, close enough to the middle of town to easily walk to shops. The property is well back a private lane behind a blue gate, so very private. While it was much to cold to use the pool, the porch was wonderful for afternoon reading in the sun. Hamish, the owner, arrived on our first day to make sure we had all we needed and to lay a wonderful fire for us. The three bedrooms are separate enough to be private. The Master suite consumes the entire second floor. Thank you for a wonderful stay in Sarlat!

A bit late I know, but I wanted you to know how much we all enjoyed staying at Villa Sarlat last week. It was everything I hoped it would be, particularly the distance walking into town - so convenient! We made full use of many of your recommendations for places to eat and the whole experience was a joy. What a spectacular area! The house itself was perfect for us, clean, bright and very relaxing. I really enjoyed the pool, too, although the others thought it was too cold!
It was good to meet Hamish and we took him up on his suggestions for visiting Domme and Monpazier, ending up in Belves for dinner. That worked really well and was a great treat!
Thanks again and I hope we left everything in order. I shall be recommending your house/s to friends and hope to visit again myself in the not too distant future.

- Sarlat is good for a family holiday and this house is a great base from which to explore the area. Sarlat is very busy and I recommend you stay IN the town rather than just outside - as you can never park, at least in July and August. The house is furnished to a very high standard, just about everything else you can imagine you might need was provided. The decor is faultless, the bedlinen fresh and all white, tonnes of towels for both the pool and the bathrooms. The pool is small but attractively landscaped with lots of comfy loungers all around. As the owners recommended some local restaurants we ate extremely well and all within a short stroll of the house. There is a lively market in Sarlat, lots of buskers and buzz to keep the kids happy til late at night, good restaurants. Not far away, by car, there is the river to swim in and good cycle paths and we also found a lake with a 'beach' and floating diving boards.

We have just returned home after spending a very enjoyable week in your house. Thank you so much for sharing it with us and for all your local knowledge....very helpful knowing where to eat and where to avoid. The Michelin restaurant was excellent and very good value! We would recommend this house for children and adults alike as there is so much to do within Sarlat and the immediate area. The house is very nice with everything that we needed for our holiday, we particularly appreciated the lovely bed linen and towels and the food that you had purchased for our arrival. The house itself is a lovely old stone character house and is very comfortable for a family and is well equipped. We would certainly return and would not hesitate to recommend it to others as there cannot be many holiday houses such as this in such an excellent location.
