Dear David, Bev and family,

Apologies for the delay in replying to your lovely email. Life's been crazy since we've been home.

We had a fantastic holiday. Really special. Les Espioles was just perfect for us and contributed in no small part to us having an incredibly relaxing and enjoyable time. The location was great, the facilities were brilliant and your kindness and hospitality was much appreciated.

It was such a relaxing holiday and with 5 children in tow, that's no mean feat, so thank you so much.

Paris was great and the kids really enjoyed themselves. Unfortunately, as we were leaving the car park of the Campanile hotel to head back to Calais on the Sunday evening, Dave's car got a puncture,

Still, it didn't dampen our spirits and just added to the memories of what was one of the best holidays we've ever had.

Thank you all so much, and we hope to see you again in the future.

Matt, Emma, Anais, Khaim, Mel, Dave, Sean, Ryan and Tom.

A truly idyllic location for this lovely group of cottages set the scene for our very enjoyable break away from the humdrum in the lovely Dordogne. Beverley and David are the perfect hosts-always helpful and friendly in a pleasant and low-key manner. Everything is there on-site;table tennis, badminton, football, boules, children's play area and lovely secluded swimming pool with a most stunning setting. The beauty of Les Espioles is that none of these facilities encroach on the tranquility of the cottages and yet they are all easily accessible. Our 8 year old son was in a permanent state of happiness with such a variety of activities at his finger tips. The only downside was we parents have to try and keep up. All in all it was just beautiful and for us we had the most glorious weather for 9 days, meaning we could always enjoy sitting outside on the patio and just enjoy listening to the sounds of nature. Pure bliss! We would certainly recommend this as a holiday for all age groups and for those appreciating the subtleties of life.

Our family had one of our most enjoyable holidays at Les Espioles this year. We stayed in the property called Canard Dodu, which had everything we needed, including a lovely airey main living room on the first floor. We enjoyed the lovely swimming pool, and my son made it his mission to beat me at table tennis during the stay (which he did..!) The surrounding area has plenty of great places to visit within easy driving distance, Sarlat on market days, and Rocamadour being two of our favourites. David and Beverley were excellent hosts, and made us very welcome. The views from the grounds were lovely, very peaceful. All in all, we had a great time, and would thoroughly recommend spending your holidays here, and enjoying the area.

Dear Dave and Bev. We just wanted to write in order to thank you for a wonderful holiday. The gite was beautiful and perfect for the family. The kids loved the gardens and the freedom to play. Two weeks wasn't long enough, we were amazed how much there was to do and see, it didn't help that the little ones didn't want to leave the pool!! See you next summer. " - Simon and Alison Derby

"Thank you ever so much for your hospitality and making such a wonderful holiday place to stay. We really did enjoy ourselves and have been looking at our photos wishing we were still there! We hope in the future to come and stay again! We will certainly be recommending Les Espioles. All the best to you and your family. " - Judith, Stephen and boys.

"We had a really enjoyable stay at Les Espioles and were just sorry that we couldn't have stayed longer. We look forward to coming back soon. with many thanks " - the Willis family

Hi Bev, David and kids

We're back safe and sound and back to reality with a thud!

Thank you so much for a great holiday. Les Espioles is lovely and in such a beautiful part of the country...you are really very lucky and I'm very jealous! If we ever get the opportunity to escape the rat race it's where I'm heading!

All the best for the future, hopefully we'll meet again.

hospitality and I would certainly recommend your holiday homes to friends as you

Hi Beveley and David

We really enjoyed our stay at your cottage. It was lovely and peaceful, the area around there was very nice and lots to see.

We got back OK, but it is a long drive. I have to say, it is far more stressful driving in Britain than in France.

We hope to see you again next year.

Best Regards

Andrew and Karen

Home safely in one go on Saturday evening and thank you Beverley and David

for our stay with you last week. We had a great time and very much enjoyed

exploring the area.

Kind Regards

"A great disappointment"

Although a beautiful garden and location, on arrival we were given a long list of rules which the (very present) owners try to ensure are adhered to. In fact my older children (12 and 9) commented (un… More

Whilst we are sorry to hear that the family were disappointed with their holiday,we feel it only fair to communicate our point of view.
Our site is a collection of five gites so we do have certain rules to ensure the security and respect of other guests.
This particular family were clearly upset that we expected them to supervise their young children whilst at the pool. They seemed to believe that as their children could swim there was no need. We explained about the need to keep the pool gate closed to protect other toddlers on site but despite this on several occasions we saw the children entering the pool knowingly unsupervised
Most of the holiday their three children were left unsupervised in the garden either screaming or misbehaving an example of which was the youngest child throwing a solar light in the hedge and stamping on the tube whilst the oldest child was kicking a ball against the wall of another guests house.
We do try to be discrete however when health and safety and the tranquility of others are being adversely affected we do sometimes need to address the situation as politely and fairly as we can.
We have been hosting families for 10 years and in all this time we have had good relationships with the vast majority of our guests.
We knew the relationship with this family was going to be difficult when on their arrival the father refused to allow us to show him around the house and grounds and remained at his car.

"Fantastic family fun"

My wife, myself and our 2 daughters stayed here in July 2012 and loved it so much we are returning in 2013- something we have never done before!
We wanted self- catering without the isolation (and expense) of our own villa and without the chaos and caravans of Eurocamp. We have found it.
Fantastic accommodation- spacious, well equipped and with 2 private terraces and lovely grounds for children to run and play in- including swing set, pool, boules etc. location is fab as not too touristy for the dordogne but within easy reach if main sites. Host have perfect mix of friendly whilst respecting privacy.

"Wonderful Holiday"

When arrived with our daughter and grandaughter aged three - "Wow" was the first word spoken. Beautiful surroundings large gardens, large swimming pool plus paddling pool, Trampoline and swings - lots of older children too such as basket ball, table tennis and boules for the oldies!!. The pool had plenty of loungers although we had it to ourselves for most of the stay. The cottage was spacious clean and extremely well equipped with everything we required. The little extras like washing up liquid , dishwasher tablets, bin bags etc were very welcome as was the wine!! We had a large shady terrace with barbeque and had most meals outside - apart from one rainy day that is when English TV and DVD came in very useful. The owners Beverely and David were very helpful friendly. We hope to be back in the near future, our grandaughter summed it up for all of us "can we stay here forever and ever" I only wish....
