About the home
The cottage is a beautiful quality barn conversion full of original features and very comfortably equipped to a high standard. The cottage forms part of a private hamlet with three 3 bedroom cottages and two 4 bedroom cottages dating back to the Hundred Years War in the 15th century . The cottage and is set in two and a half acres of beautiful landscaped gardens with stunning views and a large enclosed alarmed pool and paddling pool surrounded by truffle woods.
Our beautiful site, with its high elevation and surrounded by valley views, offers a feeling of repose and tranquility yet gives superb acces to the regions numerous attractions of the Dordogne and Lot,the astounding towns of Sarlat, Dome, Beynac and Rocamadour to name but a few. Ideal for walking or cycling in the gorgeous oak forests surrounding the property and five minutes from the Dordogne river . Families and couples alike are welcome.

A truly idyllic location for this lovely group of cottages set the scene for our very enjoyable break away from the humdrum in the lovely Dordogne. Beverley and David are the perfect hosts-always helpful and friendly in a pleasant and low-key manner. Everything is there on-site;table tennis,badminton,football,boules,children's play area and lovely secluded swimming pool with a most stunning setting.The beauty of Les Espioles is that none of these facilities encroach on the tranquility of the cottages and yet they are all easily accessible. Our 8 year old son was in a permanent state of happiness with such a variety of activities at his finger tips. The only downside was we parents have to try and keep up. All in all it was just beautiful and for us we had the most glorious weather for 9 days, meaning we could always enjoy sitting outside on the patio and just enjoy listening to the sounds of nature. Pure bliss! We would certainly recommend this as a holiday for all age groups and for those appreciating the subtleties of life.

Our family had one of our most enjoyable holidays at Les Espioles this year. We stayed in the property called Canard Dodu, which had everything we needed, including a lovely airey main living room on the first floor. We enjoyed the lovely swimming pool, and my son made it his mission to beat me at table tennis during the stay (which he did..!) The surrounding area has plenty of great places to visit within easy driving distance, Sarlat on market days, and Rocamadour being two of our favourites. David and Beverley were excellent hosts, and made us very welcome. The views from the grounds were lovely, very peaceful. All in all, we had a great time, and would thoroughly recommend spending your holidays here, and enjoying the area.

The cottage is a beautiful barn conversion full of original features, exposed stone and ancient ship beams throughout. The downstairs living area consists of an open plan very well equipped kitchen, a dining area and a seating and tv area as well as two shower rooms. Upstairs houses the bedrooms complete with high ceilings and exposed stone and beams. All have built in wardrobes.
Situated just on the outskirts of the beautiful mountain top village of Nadaillac de Rouge, we are a five minute walk from a superb child friendly restaurant and a mere five minute drive from amenities of a local boulangerie, butchers and grocers with a weekly market.. Bread and croissants may be collected each morning from the local restaurant five minutes walk away
Cots, highchairs and baby bath available upon request
Freezer and washing machine are communal.

Apologies for the delay in replying to your lovely email. Life's been crazy since we've been home.
We had a fantastic holiday. Really special. Les Espioles was just perfect for us and contributed in no small part to us having an incredibly relaxing and enjoyable time. The location was great, the facilities were brilliant and your kindness and hospitality was much appreciated.
It was such a relaxing holiday and with 5 children in tow, that's no mean feat, so thank you so much.
Paris was great and the kids really enjoyed themselves. Unfortunately, as we were leaving the car park of the Campanile hotel to head back to Calais on the Sunday evening, Dave's car got a puncture,
Still, it didn't dampen our spirits and just added to the memories of what was one of the best holidays we've ever had.
Thank you all so much, and we hope to see you again in the future.

Each of the five cottages in the hamlet has its own private terrace with patio chairs, table parasol and charcoal bbq ideal for al fresco eating.
The 2 and a half acre gardens offer a multitude of sporting facilities, a covered table tennis and darts area, a badminton and volley ball net, a football and basketball area, , two sets of swings one for younger and one for older children, a large boules area complete with Horseshoe games and a 12 foot trampoline with net.
Set in an old walnut orchard the grounds offer lots of shade or sun spots for tanning or snoozing depending on your mood.
The large pool area, alarmed and fenced, is set apart from the cottages in the corner of the grounds surrounded by oak forest and offers privacy of bathing whilst enjoying views over spectacular countryside.
Les Espioles is ideally situated for all types of vacation.
For those wanting a more active holiday we are minutes from abundant sports facilities including several local golf courses, canoeing (the Dordogne River is only 3.5 km away), horse riding, climbing centres,caving,tennis,parascending school, quad biking, paintball,hot air balloon trips, cycle paths and aquaparks
For those wanting to relax and enjoy the tastes of the region we are in the centre of the fine Perigordine cuisine.One restaurant is just a five minute walk away!
Wine lovers can find easy access to several local wine areas- Cahors is 30 minutes away, Bergerac an hour away and Bordeaux 90 minutes
Music lovers can enjoy the many music festivals throughout the summer.
Finally if all you want to do is chill and relax then our site offers two and a half acres of beautiful gardens to enjoy, whether it is a case of laying out on the lawns or terraces , enjoying the shade of our twelve walnut trees or for our younger customers enjoying the play areas.

Centrally placed to explore the beautiful and historic Dordogne and Lot Regions with its world renowned chateaux,cuisine, wines and music festivals.We are 5 minutes from the Dordogne river with all the canooing bathing and fishing it offers.
The climate offers warm long Springs and Autumns and hot Summers whilst the countryside remains verdant.
The Sarlat / Saint Julien de Lampon area
We are within a 15 minute drive of Sarlat, Rocamadour and the Bastide towns of Domme and Gourdon.
We are 5 minutes from the Dordogne river, a superb water park with 3 pools 2 slides and innumerable bouncy castles, canooing , horse riding, tennis and an 18 hole golf course.
There are two forest climbing centres and a paintball centre within easy reach.

My wife, myself and our 2 daughters stayed here in July 2012 and loved it so much we are returning in 2013- something we have never done before! We wanted self- catering without the isolation (and expense) of our own villa and without the chaos and caravans of Eurocamp. We have found it. Fantastic accommodation- spacious, well equipped and with 2 private terraces and lovely grounds for children to run and play in- including swing set, pool, boules etc. location is fab as not too touristy for the dordogne but within easy reach if main sites. Host have perfect mix of friendly whilst respecting privacy. |
