The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

The Black Perigord overlooks the valleys of the Vezere and the Dordogne. These timeless, breathtaking landscapes have been handed down from Prehistory.

Just look at our farm, our chateaus, our towns with their sun-drenched stones that reflect a golden light. Just take a walk in our forests where oak and chestnut have donned their russet coat : look at our flower-flecked fields in spring, the purple heather of our copses in September, the green oaks and junipers covered in winter frost, our rivers Vezere and Dordogne reflecting rocks of ochre and brown and, in the valley, the square shapes of tobacco and maize fields mixed with summer's ripe corn.

Sarlat

Snuggly nested between the Dordogne and the Vezere rivers, Sarlat captivates the visitors from the very first glimpse of its roofs. To discover its narrow, winding streets is to step back into a thousand years of unatered architechture with its predominant ochre hue, from paving stone to lauze-roof. An exceptionnal heritage with the most registred or classified buildings per square mile in Europe.
