This charming Sarlat studio featuring exposed oak beams and honey coloured stone walls, large French windows overlooking the Wednesday and Saturday markets,provides very comfortable holiday accommodation with fully equipped kitchenette including electric hob and combination microwave. It retains all its rustic charm whilst providing all the modern conveniences.
Being just a stone's throw away from the Vezere and Dordogne valleys, it is also the perfect starting point for discovering world renowned prehistoric sites such as Lascaux II and Font de Gaume, not forgetting the world's largest prehistory museum at Les Eyzies and for exploring the breathtaking countryside of the Perigord Noir which is dotted with enchanting chateaux. The wine regions of Bergerac and Bordeaux are a short drive away with the Atlantic coast 3 hours away.

The Dordogne region
The Dordogne region in South west France is one of the most beautiful areas in France featuring 1001 chateaux, relics of the One hundred Years War but also includes 'La Vallee de l'Homme' with all it's world renowned prehistoric sites.
Man has lived in this valley for over 50,000 years and it is easy to see why. The soaring cliff tops,wide valleys and large rivers which provided for prehistoric man remain essentially unchanged and provide a spectacular backdrop for any holiday.
The climate range of 25c to 40c in summer to +15c to -10C in winter means you can choose which type of holiday you prefer.
The beautiful medieval town of Sarlat with it's stunning architecture is set in the heart of Perigord Noir which is renowned for it's gastronomic delights (foie gras, truffles, cepes etc) all of which can be sampled in the local restaurants at very reasonable prices.
The area is also known for it's outstanding beauty with breathtaking cliffs, plunging valleys and meandering rivers providing a stunning backdrop to visiting prehistoric caves, the 1001 chateaux or any of the most beautiful villages in France such as Beynac, Roque Gageac etc.
For those of you who prefer a more relaxing time, canoeing down the Dordogne or Vezere rivers under the towering castles or overhanging cliff tops is an amazing fun packed way to enjoy the local scenery.

"Location, location, location!"
Just spent five days in Sarlat at this appartment. The apartment is clean, very reasonably priced and the location is really fantastic. It is really centrally located, (based near the main square of the medieval old town of Sarlat).
There is a free car park located minutes away, which makes it really convenient and perfect if you are driving around the Dordogne area, but would like a break from driving to enjoy some relaxed evenings out in a traditional old town. The town itself has a lovely atmosphere, particualrly in the evening when the streets are lit up. There are basic cooking facilities etc, with so many retsuarants to choose from, it is tempting to simply eat out every night. A particualrly nice feature in the apartment are the lovely large glass French windows which open out onto the street and on Market days (Wed and Sat) you can soak up the lively market street atmosphere. If you are looking for a good value apartment, in a central area of Sarlat to enjoy the old town atmosphere, this is a good choice.

"close to the square, but not clean"

I was shocked and horrified to read this review, as at no time during, at the end or since their stay(5 months ago) did this guest give any indication of there being a problem. All guests are given our 3 telephone numbers and are asked to contact us should there be any problems which we would of course see to straight away. If this guest had done so, we could have given her a different kind of sheet and re-mopped the floor or whatever was required within half an hour and she would have had a great stay and I would not be writing this now.
With regards to the cleanliness, I personally clean both apartments as I am paranoid about cleanlines and no-one else's standards are good enough. My standard cleaning procedure is to strip and clean the fridge,feather dust the 5m high ceiling and then vaccumn all floor surfaces including the cupboards and shower to ensure that no dust or hairs are left behind. All surfaces are then wiped down using a bleach product to make them germ free and clean and the floor is treated likewise. The bed is then made up using freshly cleaned and ironed bedlinen. All sheets are renewed once a year to ensure there are no signs of wear.
The flooring in the apartment is laminate and perhaps the lady doesn't realise that it doesn't shine like a polished wooden floor.
The mattress is only 2 years old and despite having a good occupancy rate since this guest left, no-one has had any problem with the mattress.
We require a 175Euro damage deposit for our apartments, this is displayed on the Flipkey website and in every correspondence we have with our guests. This is standard practice for self-catering exclusive use units and at least 8 of the 16 Flipkey featured Sarlat properties have this requirement.
As we live 45 mins away from the apartment, we ask all,our guests to give us an approximate time of arrival in advance and then to ring us on our business number on their day of arrival when they think they are about an hour away from Sarlat. On arrival at Sarlat I ask them to ring my home number and if there is no response to ring my mobile. This lady continued to ring my mobile number which unfortunately was putting her direct onto the answer-machine and was not ringing at my end. In the meantime I had been waiting around the corner for these guests since midday and could have been with them in 3 mins. This guest eventually rang my business number and my husband was able to contact me immediately to let me know they had arrived. I am sorry that this happened (the first time in 3 years that we have had a problem) and to guarantee this never happens again we have bought a second mobile phone.
