About the home

Lake view is an ideal home for discerning guests that like privacy and security. The property offers both; as it is set in its own grounds and has extensive accommodation that could be used for two or three family's or a family several ages/generations. It offers everyone plenty of space for a large family or privacy if you want to have a peaceful rest.

The Marmara Sea region

Lake Sapanca is a stunningly serene geographical area of the Sakara region of Turkey. The vast Lake is 30 miles long and 3.5 mile at the widest point. Myriads of the sky's blues and greens of the lush vegetation reflect in the lake to create a peacefulness and tranquility that gives this area a calm all of its own. This is a heaven for people wanting to leave the stress of urban life behind and immerse themselves in a rural natural setting whilst enjoy the comforts of life.

This area is a rural retreat for middle class city dwellers.The Asian side of Istanbul is approximately 45 minutes by car and 1 hour 30 minutes to the European side. Currently trains are not available till 2013 when the high speed link construction is finished.

We have a VW Caravelle with driver for hire on a daily or long term basis that takes 9 passengers. We will also arrange airport transfers for you and your party. Please enquire for costs.

There are numerous land and water outdoor and sporting activities available such as:

Jeep off road driving, Paintball, Barbeque, Walking/Trekking, Horse riding/Trekking, Water Skiing and Wake Boarding, Mountain Biking, Archery, Fishing, Paragliding, Microlight, Hot Air Balloon rides, ATV Safari, Canoe safaris, Forest Trips, Catamaran Sailing, to name but a few. Please ask for further details and we will do our best to arrange these for you or set you on the right course to book these.

We can accommodate Corporate groups with fully catered accommodation, Facilitators for training and a full programme of activities for a truly unique team building holiday. Please enquire stating your approximate requirements and we will phone you to discuss further.

We can arrange these for you. Lake Sapanca is where the Turkish Water Ski team have their camp.

The Sapanca / Ilmiye area

You can simply swim in the lake or take up any one of the numerous activities available such as, Water Skiing, Wake and Knee Boarding, wind surfing, catamaran sailing, canoeing and canoe trips, Fishing.

Around the lake and mountains there are centers where you can take a Hot Air Balloon Flight or Microlight from the lake. In the mountains there are areas where you can go paragliding. However for the less adventurous there is walking in the National Park, Ataturk Provincial Forest and the surrounding shores and hills. Guided walks and trekking is available as well as horse/pony trekking. Please ask for details.

The numerous streams and rivers that flow into the lake form highways and rivulets of nature that are a joy to behold and explore.The clear mountain water has a low acidity and it feeds an abundance of rich plant life both in and around the lake. There are stunning beds of water lilies covering the lake shallows and providing shelter for the rick and diverse aquatic life. The area is famous for its trout and one should not leave the area without having delicious grilled trout at a waterside restaurant.

Perhaps the simplest entertainment of all is a family picnic on the shores of the lake at one of the many tranquil and peaceful uncrowded beaches or grassed areas

Winter sports is a feature of this area in the winter. Travel 26 Km and you will find the town of Kartepe. They have invested heavily in recent years to become a center for winter sports and skiing in Turkey. At a relatively low altitude of 1500 metres this area enjoys good snow in the winter months, due to its inland location. There are 12 runs, 3 blue for amateurs skiers, 3 blue for snow boarders and skiers, 3 red for skiers and boarders at intermediate level and 4 black run for advanced skiers/boarders.

Whilst the nearest Airport is at Izmit about 25 Km away, we recommend that European travelers use the International Airports in Istanbul. This is approximately two hours by train and a little longer by car.

There are two airports serving Istanbul. Ataturk International Airport on the European side of the Bosporus and Sabiha Gokcen on the Asian side of the Bosporus.

Budget airlines such as Easy jet and Pegasus fly into Sabiha Gokcen. Sabiha Gokcen is about 45 minutes by taxi/car from Sapanca or just over an hour by bus or train. Easy jet can be the cheapest if you book early but try all airlines. We will provide you with details of ferries and buses from your chosen airport.

All major airlines such as AirFrance/KLM, British Airways, Turkish Airlines and many more fly into Ataturk from British, European and world International Airports. This is located 14 miles West of Istanbul center (Taxim square ). We have found Turkish Airlines to be the best carrier for food, service, comfort and reliability. If you buy tickets in advance they can also be very economical.

Car Hire is available from both airports but we suggest you book on line and in advance to get the best deals. We recommend Europe Car as a good hire company. We can also arrange for airport transfers and Chauffeur driven cars to and from the airport and for the duration of your stay.

Sapanca is on the main train line from Istanbul and can be reached in about 1 hour.
