Situated on Atlantico Golf, a modern complex with a pool & tennis court & just a short walk from the spectacular shell shaped bay (one of Portugal's Top 10 beaches) of Sao Martinho do Porto, which offers cafes, bars & traditional restaurants serving delicious food & wine at very reasonable prices. Close to supermarket, shops, daily fresh produce market, ATM, etc.

A high specification, beautifully furnished apartment with a balcony for al fresco dining, full air conditioning/heating, large lounge/diner with 32in flat screen TV, DVD player & stereo, bathroom with jacuzzi bath/shower, kitchen with all modcons & granite worktops. Two bedrooms both with french doors leading to a balcony with pool view.

Car not essential but recommended if you like sightseeing - many wonderful sights to see such as the old walled medieval town of Obidos, Alcobaca Monastery, Batalha Abbey, beautiful beaches backed by pine forests, underground caves, championship golf courses and much more.

Tastefully furnished for your upmost comfort and relaxation - it caters for your every need. Sleeps up to 6 people with 2 bedrooms & a comfortable sofa bed in the lounge.

Balcony furnished with table and chairs to enable you to dine al fresco.

The apartment is fully airconditioned, has a large, airy lounge/diner equipped with sofa, double sofa bed, 32in flat screen TV, DVD player (a selection of DVDs), stereo, dining room table and chairs. WiFi available on request (charge applies).

Tastefully furnished bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a double bed and bedroom 2 has two single beds. Both bedrooms have french doors leading to a balcony with a pool view. Both bedrooms have air-conditioning for cooling or heating. Fitted wardrobes throughout.

Separate modern bathroom with jacuzzi bath, overhead shower, wash basin, mirror, toilet and bidet.

Large fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, large fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, Iron and ironing board, etc.

The apartment is cleaned before your arrival. Bed linen & towels provided but please bring your own towels for use by beach or pool. We can arrange for extra cleaning, cots and highchairs.

The climate of the Leiria Region is under the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, therefore, having a pleasant weather all year round. In summertime the climate has average an average temperature in the high 20c's in winter, the temperatures descend a little to an average of 15 c in December.

The Sao Martinho do Porto / Leiria area

São Martinho do Porto, a small traditional Portuguese fishing town, sits on the edge of a spectacular bay and is protected from the Atlantic so is perfect for families & ideal for windsurfing & sailing. The beach is considered to be one of the top 10 in Portugal. The bay is surrounded by a wide range of cafes, bars & restaurants with amazing views.

There is a supermarket, shops & a regular fish & vegetable markets. This idyllic town has loads of character & much of the older historic parts still have cobbled streets. There are 5 golf courses within a 15-20 min drive, including the Praia d'el Rey championship course - one of the most stunning in Europe, set among pine forests, sand dunes and the Atlantic Ocean.

Highlights of the local area include dinosaur trail; Island of Berlenga (with jagged coastline & bird sanctuary); Obidos (walled medieval town); Nazare (beach resort); monastery at Alcobaca; beautiful beaches backed by pine forests; spectacular underground caves of Grutas de Mira de Aire. The beautiful city of Lisbon is just 1 hour away.

The nearest airport is Lisbon which is a 1 hour easy drive. Porto airport is a 2 hour easy drive. Journeys from both airports are mainly by motorway with plenty of services along the way. We would recommend searching for flights to both airports and comparing prices and flight times, as you may find cheaper flights that go to Porto at better times of the day to suit you.

If you are not planning on hiring a car, we would recommend you fly to Lisbon as it will be easier to arrange an airport transfer. Private airport transfers can be arranged (we can help you with this) or there is an excellent Express coach service (air conditioned) from Lisbon to Sao Martinho which stops just 5 mins from the apartment.

“Fabulous holiday.” We were first time visitors to Portugal, but I can certainly say we look forward to returning. There were 5 of us in the apartment, including children aged 12, 8 and 2, but there was more than enough space for us all. It was everything the descriptions & photos promised and more. It was a lovely modern, spacious apartment and had every modern convenience we could possibly want. It was clean and the local rep was very helpful on arrival and also available to help for further questions during our stay. The owners left two very helpful information packs in the apartment, suggesting possible trips and local restaurants worth trying. We went to a number of the suggested restaurants with Portobello (fav of kids with pizzas and pasta), Miu Jardim (20 mins drive & fabulous steaks) and the Royal Marina our particular favourites. We went on trips to the water park at Nazare (perfect for all the kids) and to the lagoon at Foz do Arelho and enjoyed going up the sand dunes. However, the stunning sandy beaches at Sao Martinho (genuinely 10 mins walk) were so good that we hardly felt the need to go anywhere. In addition, there was a lovely pool at the apartment complex so we had the best of both beach and pool holidays. We had a fabulous time. The apartment was excellent, Sao Martinho was lovely and family friendly, food excellent and we can't wait to go back. .

"The apartment was fantastic- left nothing to be desired and lots of thought clearly gone into providing every possible mod con you could want abroad, including a great TV and fantastic selection of DVDs for the odd cosy night in! Location was great too with a 10 minute stroll to the beach and easy access to the local markets. Wish we could have tried the pool but in late October its a tad chilly to say the least! Nevetherless, had a great time wondering around the bay and nearby medieval town of Obidos - an absolute must and could easily lose a couple of days withn the walled city.
Basically spent our 3 days eating and drinking to our hearts content and fell in love with the place - cant wait to go back!"

"Our holiday was just perfect. The apartment was great. We had several jacuzzi baths and all the equipments in the kitchen were so good. We didn´t have to take so much for example clothes with us from home because there was an opportunity to wash clothes as many times as possible. Less clothes, more space for souvenirs!
And the possibility to play tennis - wow! I hadn´t played tennis in twenty years so it was nice to recall how to play the game... And tennis took us... We had to buy new racets immediately after we came home! Thank you for this!
The children loved Portugal (and we adults too!) and our sons wants to go back there next summer! Never mind do the adults come or not, they want to go back. The weather was perfect for us and the waves in the sea were huge! The food was surprisingly good and we found good restaurants in Sao and near Sao thanks to good advices which we got from the apartments guides.

Last summer we were in Greece and the trip to Greece was also nice but I think if I have to compare those trips, Portugal takes the points. We saw so much more in Portugal than in Greece. The experiences we so much different that the holiday felt so much "fuller". "

"We had a lovely break in your apartment - the apartment is really gorgeous and the area in general is lovely! We got a chance to enjoy the pool and we took advantage of the tennis court too! We did a day trip to Fatima which was really nice and we really enjoyed a day in Nazare - great restaurants and a real holiday atmosphere! We also spent a lovely afternoon in Foz...the week just flew by! Food was such good value there - really feel like we're being ripped off at home. And the wine was really good too! Also we found Pauline to be very helpful during our stay. We would certainly recommend the apartment to other people!"

"We had a wonderful week at your apartment. Being our first visit to this part of Portugal, we weren't sure what to expect, but I have to say that we certainly weren't disappointed! The apartment was superb. It had everything we needed and was extremely spacious and comfortable. It's in a great location, with the bars, restaurants and beach so close, as well as a new supermarket round the corner.
We spent several days exploring the area, and still didn't manage to see everything we wanted to. We loved the old walled town of Obidos with its narrow streets; and the long drive to the Convent at Tomar was definitely worth the trip.
The remains of the Roman town at Conimbriga were stunning with the vast mosaic floors. We spent a day in Lisbon and climbed up to the Castle to look out over the city, then took the tram back down to the main square for a coffee and a spot of people watching. We even managed to see the amazing dinosaur footprints and had the whole place to ourselves.
Between our sightseeing, we also spent a couple of lazy days by the pool which was fabulous.
A superb part of Portugal, and a lovely apartment which we would certainly recommend and even hope to visit again sometime soon."

"It was a fantastic two bedroom apartment that comfortably slept 5 adults with a double sofa-bed. The furniture and furnishings are all new and of good quality. It was great to have a large dining table to eat from but most nights the five of us squeezed on to the balcony to eat and drink. We had a car but walked to the supermarket and beach on almost every occasion. The apartment pool and tennis court were also fantastic and we made good use of both. The apartments location to several sightseeing towns, beaches and golf courses is ideal if you have a car. It was also an easy one hour drive from Lisbon were we flew in and a relaxing two and a bit drive from Porto were we flew out. The location therefore allows for great sighseeing opportunities of these two great cities. The owners were extremely helpful as were the property managers who met and assisted us during our stay."

"Apartment was lovely and it's in a great position for beach and town. We would recommend the following activities:
Visiting the Mira de Aira cave, huge and amazing, lots of steps to go down so best if kids are reasonably confident, so would say 7+, but really worth a visit despite the journey.
Batalha Abbey, lovely, atmospheric, UNESCO world monument. Great if you like architecture/churches/history etc,including Tomb of Unknown Warriors. We visited on a Sunday, and there was even a wedding taking place.
Obidos, really attractive, and the medieaval festival was on while we were there, which was an experience.
The pool and tennis court are great - loved by all of us.
The facilities in the apartment are great, I forgot a cool bag and freezer block, so the fact that one was supplied was useful. Thankyou.
The Rede Express bus to/from Lisbon is excellent, a far cry from the coach trips I remember as a kid! Fast and comfortable, including reclining seats!
When we arrived it was incredibly windy which was a bit of a surprise, and to escape being sand battered, we walked around to the lagoon area with the massive sand dune. It is a bit of a walk (20 mins), but all children seem to love that dune! It is very hot there as it is out of the breeze, so sun cream and probably not too long is best advice!
We had a lovely holiday and the apartment is lovely. If you hire a car there is also so much to travel to see, beaches and lovely towns."

Our five person family stayed in this apartment for two weeks between the 20th June and the 4th July. The apartment was as excellent as it was described beforehand. It was very well maintained and equipped perfectly. Only thing we were missing was some bigger pots & pans to make food for our 3 growing sons...
During our stay we mainly lay on the beach and visited some historical sights nearby. The tennis court and the swimming pool gave activity for several hours per day for our sons.
It was very nice that the owners have made a welcome folder which contained tips for restaurants, best beaches, sight seeing, activities etc. We tried some of the restaurants and they were all very good. We will warmly recommend Sao Martinho do Porto and this apartment to our friends!

We stayed in this new apartment for 4 days in June 2009. The apartment was spacious, exceptionally clean, well equipped, high quality and more than satisfied our expectations. Whilst we had a car, we did not need to use this in Sao Marthino itself as you can be in the town centre or on the beach in about ten miuntes by flat easy walking. We found the owners guide pack to the area to be very useful. We used several of the restaurants and were not dissapointed in any way. We would not hesitate to use this apartment again.
