Sao Martinho do Porto / Leiria area
Sao Martinho do Porto is a small traditional Portugeuse fishing town located around a spectacular natural bay, known as "Concha" by the locals due to its shell like appearance. It is also surrounded by a vast sweeping beach which curls all the way around the bay. This forms a naturally sheltered swimming area and is one of the best places to bathe with its calm, shallow and sun warmed water making it ideal for families.
The village has maintained its marvellous character and much of the older historic parts still have cobbled streets. You will also find a frequent fish and fresh vegetables market and a monthly open air antiques fair. There are many bars, coffee houses and marvellous restaurants to explore, catering for every taste.

How to get there
Lisbon is approximately an hours drive away and Porto Airport a little over 2 hours by car.
We suggest hiring a car, it is the easiest and most cost affective allowing you to explore the surrounding areas.
The train also stops at Sao Martinho Do Porto directly from both Porto and Lisbon (schedule permitting). The train is a beautiful scenic route, however it takes approximately 3 hrs.
If you are not one for driving we suggest the bus. It is the quickest. From the Lisbon Bus station it takes you approximately 1.30hrs.
