Sao Martinho Do Porto is a beautiful Portuguese town (where the Portuguese go on holiday) with a great shell shaped bay offering shelter and safe calm water.
Our apartment has been furnished and equipped to a high standard in 2008 and has a wonderful elevated position with sweeping bay views. There are just a few steps and a driveway down to the beach and a small grassy child's park.
You are in the heart of the town within meters of many seafood & Portuguese restaurants along cobbled streets. The private balcony on the upper floor is great for entertaining & eating outside. An additional private patio accessed from the lounge and kitchen has direct access to the pool (handy for families). A lifeguard is present in summer months at pool and beach.

The property has a high chair, travel cot, potty, baby reclining chair, soft baby fleece throws, beakers, baby spoons and baby bowls with underneath grips.

Shared private pool (open all year) and private (integral) garage. Plenty of outdoor furniture.
Approximately 50 meters to fine sandy beach. Fantastic sunset as the sun sets on the ocean. There are lifeguards throughout the key summer months on beach and at pool. You can see the pool clearly from the balcony and patio, kitchen, lounge and the two bedrooms. There are steps to the beach which may be unsuitable for the very elderly or disabled.
The steps from the apartment lead down to a safe small grass playground with various attractions for children in front of the beach.
For the moments where you'd like to stay in and relax there is English satellite TV for all your favourite programmes and a DVD player with over 20 DVDs suitable for all ages.

£250 deposit is required to reserve your holiday and the rest is payable 5 weeks before your holiday.

The Sao Martinho do Porto area
Retaining it's Portuguese charm and character, Sao Martinho do Porto is a remarkably picturesque seaside town. The town is built around a shell shaped bay that provides for safe bathing away from the strong Atlantic currents. The bay also benefites from warmer waters thanks to to its sheltered location.
Surrounding the bay there are numerous cafes and restaurants overlooking the cobbled streets and the fantastic views of the sea. The majority of the food on offer is typical Portuguese ( superb seafood ) though there is also a very good Italian restaurant along the front of the bay too.
Sao Martinho do Porto enjoys an idylic climate that tends not to reach oppressive extremes of hot or cold. Daytime temperatures mid-summer tend to range between 26 and 34 degrees C. Mid-winter daytime temperatures typically range between 14 and 18 degrees.
Within the vicinity of Sao Martinho is the beautiful historic town Obidos ( approximately 15-20 minutes drive ) and the Obidos lagoon. Figueira da Foz is located about 10 minutes drive from Sao Martinho, it overlooks the Obidos lagoon ( the largest lagoon in Europe ) and similarly to Sao Martinho it provides safe bathing away from the currents of the Atlantic. Sao Martinho's neighbouring town is called Nazare , it is a typical Portuguese seaside town which offers a good number of cafes and excellent restaurants.

Lisbon Airport is recommended as it is an easy drive along the A8 taking between 50 mins to 1 hour depending on traffic.
If you don't want to hire a car then you can take a taxi from Lisbon airport to Lisbon bus station (15 Euros) and there is a direct regular coach service from there taking just over an hour (9 Euros each way).
Alternatively you can fly to Oporto (2.5 hour drive) or Faro (3.5 hour drive).

The apartment was great for our group of three small families. There were everything that was promised and more! Everything was near and the town was beautiful. Only negative thing was that there is a ten day festival in June and the stage was just down from the apartment. So there was really loud music every night until 2 am. Otherwise everything was just perfect and we has a lovely time! |

Thanks for a lovely relaxing week - very well stocked apartment - you've thought of everything. Recommend Portobello restaurant on the quay- get there early or you'll have to queue, also Royal Marina is good at the end of the quay. Myra and Alan
