Obidos is a beautiful and historic UNESCO World Heritage walled town approximately 15 minutes drive away. You will find a number of activities within the Silver Coast of Portugal including golf, horse riding, water sports, fishing and much more. tours can be arranged such as wine tours and historical tours.
Ten minutes away is the spectacular beach and Lagoon of Foz Do Arelho, here you will find white sandy beaches and non motorized water sport centre offering catamarans, canoe´s windsurfing, kite surfing and much more. One can have a lesson in English or just simply hire the equipment and go alone. It is a lovely place to sit and relax in the bar/restaurant.
There are cycle tracks, and bird watching towers along the way where one can see the flamingos happily feeding in the lagoon.
The Sao Martinho do Porto / Salir do Porto area
São Martinho do Porto has one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal. With its dazzling shell shaped bay, with calm waters and white sandy beaches. This beautiful bay is surrounded by cafes, restaurants and shops all within a ten minute stroll.
There are life guards on the beach and also beach huts to hire during the summer period. There is a large supermarket in the town and also a lovely Portuguese shop 1 min walk away.
There are excellent golf courses all within a 30 minute drive of the apartment.

Lisbon Airport is approx 50mins to 1 hours away on motorways. Porto airport is approx. 2.5 hours.
By Bus: Catch a taxi from the airport to Lisbon bus station (approx 15 Euros) and then catch a direct coach service, takes 1 hour approx and is about 7 Euros.

Perfect apartment for families with kids. Good location close to the beach. The two balconies were huge and used by us frequently. The apartment had a lot of children stuff which was appreciated by our kids. Pool was huge and not too crowded. Ocean a little bit too cold but the beach was perfect. Very helpful and friendly owners. The local service company provided excellent help when we had questions. Price level in Portugal was very favourable compared to many other European countries. All in all; GREAT PLACE and we had a lovely time! |

Lovely clean modern apartment, with 2 spacious bedrooms, with everything you could need for a comfortable stay, and only 3 minutes walk from the best beach in western Portugal. With a balcony front & back there is always some sun to sit in, and it has a nice pool (unheated) which was never very busy. There weren't enough sun loungers but grass surrounds the pool so still somewhere to lay your towel. The town is an old fishing village which has grown with tourism and has a number of apartments but is still very authentic and seems to be a place where the Portuguese holiday. Plenty of restaurants and beach bars to chose from and prices very reasonable. A couple of very small convenient stores near the apartment which had basics, and an 'Intermarche' 5 mins drive away - this again was small and didn't have a huge choice but was sufficient. With 2 young boys who love building sandcastles the proximity of the beach was the best thing about this apartment, and with pedalos (3euro for 1/2hr), family bikes (8euro 1hr), canoes, sailing boats etc to hire if wanted. Within easy drive is the lovely old walled town of Obidos, Peniche (which we didnt rate), and various Monastries etc. Even in August the weather wasn't too hot as you get the breeze from the Atlantic - there is a windbreak in the apartment which we used daily on the beach! |

We had a fantastic week at this apartment. It is very tastefully furnished and very spacious with two lovely balconies. The apartment is well equipped and there are even toys and games to keep the younger members of the family busy! The apartment overlooks a lovely swimming pool to the back of the property and is only a few minutes walk from the beach at Sao Martinho, so you really do get the best of both worlds! Sao Martinho itself is somewhere where you can experience the "real" Portugal and the local food and wine is very good value for money. Nicky also provided us with a welcome pack with lots of very useful information which made our stay very stress-free. We will definitely be going back! |
