About the home

A new beautifully built and well appointed apartment which is rapidly becoming established and is situated in the stunning SIlver Coast town of Sao Martinho do Porto (please see google earth view). Ideal for either families who want all the facilities for their children to play safely or those who just want to take it easy and relax.

The complex has communal swimming pool which has sun all day and tennis court along with maturing gardens and outdoor table tennis table. The lovely town centre and beach is just a 10 minute stroll where you are spoilt for choice of bars, restaurants an seaside shops. Enjoy a drink on the sea front or take in a meal where locally caught fish is a speciality.

The accommodation is built to a high specification and is tastefully furnished. The kitchen has stone worktops and is fully equipped. In the spacious lounge/diner you can relax on leather sofas whilst accessing the ever expanding book/CD/DVD library. There are two spacious bedrooms sleeping 4 along with a sofa bed which would accommodate and extra two. The bathroom uses ROCA sanitaryware with shower/jucuzzi and surrounded by lovely variagated pink mosiac tiles. All rooms have balconies and air conditioning.

If you are hiring a car, you have the comfort of having 2 parking spaces in the secure underground carpark, ideal if you are with a golfing party and require 2 cars.

The Costa de Prata/Silver Coast/Central Portugal region

The climate of the Leiria Region is under the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, therefore, having pleasant weather all year round. In summertime the climate has an average temperature in the high 20c’s and in winter temperatures descend a little to an average of 15c in December.

The neighbouring town Nazaré, a charming old fishing town is 10km away.
The beautiful medieval borough Óbidos (20 km),
Foz D'Arelho with the stunning Obidos Lagoon is 10km. Perfect for all types of water sports.
The historic town Alcobaca with the famous monastery is 15km.
Peniche, famous for surfing and the renowned 'supertubos' wave is 40km. From here you can catch a boat to the Berlengas Islands - a nature reserve.

The Sao Martinho do Porto area

Sao Martinho do Porto, a small traditional Portuguese fishing town, sits on the edge of a spectacular bay and is protected from the Atlantic waves so is perfect for families who want safe bathing for their children and ideal for windsurfing and sailing. The beach is considered to be one of the top 10 in Portugal. The bay is surrounded by a wide range of cafes, bars and restaurants with amazing views. Eating out is a popular pastime as Portugal is the cheapest Western European country. Many 2 course meals with wine come at 10 euros or under.


There is a supermarket, shops and a regular fish and vegetable market. This idyllic town has loads of character and much of the older historic parts still have cobbled streets. There are 5 golf courses within a 30 min drive, including the Praia d’el Rey championship course – one of the best in Europe.

If you are intending to use public transport, there is an excellent bus service ( REDE expressos ) adult fare 9.50euros and child 5.70euros. Catch a taxi from the airport to the central bus station which will be about 15euros. Bus journey time is an hour and a half.
There are trains which run to Sao Martinho from the main rail station. It's a 5 min walk from Sao Martinho station to the apartment.

“A Lovely Apartment!” We really enjoyed staying here. It is walking distance to the beach and little town,where you can have the best custard tarts. There are lots of places to visit in the surrounding areas. We recommend that you have a car to get around because this allowed us to see so much more. It was a lovely, clean, spacious apartment. It is perfect for a family of 4 or 4 friends. It is really a nice place!!!

“Big apartment with nice extra touches” I would be happy to recommend it to anyone. The apartment is spacious and well equipped with more wardrobes than you could ever need! Owner has left a supply of books, DVDs and CDs and someone had even left a lilo, much to the delight of my children! The pool is clean and the place was quite quiet every day except Saturday when it was full of children; I think that many families from Lisbon use it for the weekend! Very good location; (took us exactly an hour from the airport in our little hired citroen!) Easy to find as you enter the resort and just 5 minutes from the beach with a new supermarket a 2 minute drive away. Tennis court has no booking system but only got busy early evening. Sao Martinho is a very unspoilt resort; dont come here if you want loads of shops and a wide range of restaurants, but there was more than enough for me! Restaurants are reasonably priced, but most are just cafe bars with limitted menus. Hot sunny weather not as guaranteed as on the Algarve, but even when it was cloudy, temps were pleasant and it never got too hot. We went to Fatima for the day; very interesting but took us an hour each way. Surfcamp portugal based 15 mins away in Foz had my son up and standing on his first lesson!

We spent a week in this beautiful apartment. We found a local market selling fresh fish, salad and vegetables which was really cheap and we ate in most days. The kitchen was really well equipped with good sized pots and pans. We spent most of the time relaxing round the pool or sitting on the balcony. It was one of the best holidays ever and we came back ever so relaxed. We can't wait to go back again this year.

Had a great time here. Weather, scenery and location all great.

Amelia learned to swim in the pool. We had a lovely time here.
