Casa Colina Vista
Villa | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 5
A beautiful light and sunny villa attached to the owners accommodation in walled and gated grounds with 9 metre by 4 metre pool. It has two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with two singles and an additional folding bed. There is a good sized lounge/dining room with French windows opening onto a large veranda with barbecue, and table and chairs for alfresco dinning, all looking out over the beautiful valley below. The villa has a fully fitted modern kitchen, and large family bathroom with shower.
Colina Vista is situated in the Eastern Algarve in a small Portuguese community on top of a hill with ample parking and turning. Although it is only two minutes drive to the local town of Sao Bras de Alportel, it is surrounded by countryside. There is close access to miles of beautiful walking in the hills and but a small distance from the famous Trans Algarve track. We can arrange drop off facilities and packed lunches for guests who wish to walk it.
There are wonderful bird watching opportunities both in the countryside around and in the many costal reserves 30 mins away.
Golden Orioles return each spring to nest in the valley, Bonelli's eagles regularly fly overhead along with storks and many other exotic birds.
As we are only 25-30 mins drive from Faro Airport, all of the famous beaches and golf courses of the Algarve are within easy reach, including the less known but equally beautiful quieter beaches of the Eastern Algarve.
The area has many restaurants and cafes. Most of which offer quality food at great prices.
We are having a 9 metre x 4 metre pool built this spring and it will be available from the beginning of July if you just want to soak up the sun.
The UK owners live in the adjacent villa with their very friendly Chihuahua, Yorkshire terrier, and rescue dog.
Being Portuguese speaking we can offer you advice on all aspects of the locality to make your holiday both memorable and fulfilling.

The Algarve region
The Eastern Algarve is a place like no other. It is an area that has retained its Portuguese character with many special and varied foods and characteristics. A feast of locally cooked snails (caracois) at a weekend, is always worth the effort. They are boiled in stock with herbs, baby potatoes and whole plump garlic cloves. It is a real rustic treat for all the Portuguese families, and not to be confused with its French cousin. For the squeamish, do not fear their are many different wonderful options.
We are literally 10 metres from walks in the unspoilt surrounding hills, down to a river full of turtles and other wildlife.
There are many interesting historical sites, spectacular view points, colourful festivals and outdoor concerts, all listed in the local tourist offices with well marked paths and directions.
Down from the hills to the delights of the Eastern Algarve beaches. There are soft golden sands, and sand spits off shore which you can visit for two euros by boat or even in one case by train. This is presented to you in our almost, guaranteed sunshine.
Sao Bras de Alportel
Sao Bras is in a beautiful area on the edge of the Serras with its unspoiled countryside and miles of unspoilt walks.
It has many reasonably priced restaurants, a range of good shops and supermarkets, a Saturday market that sells fresh local produce and fish when people bring their own fresh produce from the countryside to sell.
A lot of the fish is caught in the sea off the Algarve coast using old fashioned methods and is sustainable. These fish are not farmed. There is a wild cousin of the normally farmed sea bass (Robalo) called Baila, which is equally as wonderful but at a fraction of the price.
There are smoky sausages (linguica) made from the free range black pork of the area, cheese made from goat or sheep milk,
crusty Portuguese bread, and bowls of shining green and black olives. They all make a wonderful alfresco lunch with of course, a glass of one of the wonderful local wines.
You can travel the old winding Lisbon road into the mountains and stop at small villages for lunch or a refreshing drink.
Sao Bras has everything for anyone interested in walking, sightseeing, bird watching, mountain biking, horse riding, or just simply sitting outside one of the bars drinking an ice cold beer or two.
