The Aegean Islands region

Journey to a myth, the magic and peace.

Think holidays in Santorini and you're probably imagining white-washed villages, blue-domed churches and sunsets splashed with pastels. This Greek island dream oozes romance and drama. It's one of those places that'll steal your heart the moment you arrive.

So where will your Santorini holiday take you? To the enchanting town of Thira, perhaps? Crowning cliffs high above the dinky port, the town's only accessible by foot, cable car or, the traditional way, donkey. Here, dreamy days are best spent exploring the charming tangle of streets where tavernas, churches and cafés find a home. Come sunset, pull up a seat in a café overlooking the caldera and drink in the soul-stirring views.

Spending your holidays in Megalocori will see your daydreams of a traditional Greek Island village, bountiful beaches and wine tasting come to life. Little whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and fabulous views only add to the attraction of holidays in Megalocori.

So what can you look forward to on your summer holidays in Megalocori? The village is well-known for being the heart of Santorini's wine-making industry. There are several places that conduct tours of their vineyards and give you an opportunity to try before you buy. Wander the narrow cobblestone streets of the village and you'll discover a handful of boutiques and souvenir shops as well as tavernas around the main square.

Being based in Megalocori means the beaches of southern Santorini, such as Perissa, Perivolos and Agios Georgios, are easily accessible. You'll find buses depart regularly from the village if you fancy a daytrip away. Visit the ancient ruined city of Akrotiri which was buried by ash in 1625 BC and the island's capital, Thira.

Book your holidays to Megalocori now and maybe do a little wine tasting research in preparation. Cheers! Or, Yiamas!
